Wheel Locks for new 2012 Grand Sport
Hi... I thought this would be easy but it's turning out to not be so. I just took delivery of a new 2012 Corvette Grand Sport with the optional chrome wheels... I thought it would be easy to buy an aftermarket set of wheel locks. I see lots of places where I can buy and install a complete new set of 25 lug nuts but I don't want that... I just want a set of four chrome wheel locks and a key (or two keys would be better, one to keep as a spare).. I've always had McGard locks... How do I locate the correct part #, the correct wheel lock shape (for the base) so it will work on the Corvette chrome wheels??? I can't even find them listed as an optional purchase on the GMAccessories website... I've even gone directly to the McGard site and I'm sure the right set is there but I can't figure out how to locate the correct part number... Again, I want only four locks and the key(s) for a 2012 Grand Sport GM supplied chrome wheel (the $1995 optional wheel offered on the corvette ordering site)... Any help would be much appreciated.... thanks.. bob...

Don't bother. Anybody can buy a special socket that will fit over those locks.
I lost a key to my locks to a set years ago. I easily hammered a large socket over the locks, and was able to remove them.
Bottom line. If someone wants your wheels, they'll get them.
Just keep your insurance up to date, and don't worry.

To the OP, if you are still planning on getting locking lug nuts, Amazon.com has what you are looking for. They carry McGard and Gorilla in sets of four in the sizes you need 12mm x 1.50"

I did see them on Amazon but don't I also need to know whether it is "cone seat", "tuner style" or something else??? I'm guessing it would be "cone seat" but I'm just not knowledgeable of what, if anything, I need to specify beyond what you said, 12mm x 1.50"... Feedback??? thanks... bob...

In fact, I did just go back to Amazon, picked one of the McGard lock sets and I do now see a "find if this part fits your car" deal which I tried for one set of M12 x 1.5" and it said "this product does NOT fit your car"... Hmmm... So there must be some other parameter that matters????

12mm x1.50 Cone Seat
On Amazon you can input the specific info on your car (year, make, model) once you select an item to verify fit

Once you pull one off you will find it is a cheaply made nut with a thin metal cover pressed over it. I did not care for the original nuts and opted for the full set of 20. I know that is not what you are looking for, but when you see one quality made lock next to the four original nuts you may reconsider.

I would go with the Gorilla splined locks, they are top notch and I have used them on at least my last 4 vehicles. They are hard to get off as well, but like said if someone tries hard enough they will get them off.
My thought is let them, the stock Gumby's are almost $1500 each. That means I would get prob around $8000 from the insurance company. I could get some nice aftermarket wheels with that kind of coin.

Nothing works 100%, we even had a member who found his C6 sitting on blocks and his 20 Gorilla Nuts stacked in a neat pile.
But anything is better than nothing. My dealer gave me the GM/McGard set and I use them. Even a basic set like that will require a thief to bring an extra tool, take extra time, and make extra noise. They don't like to do that if something easier can be found.

I would be happy to help you out with the GM set. There are no problems in using those.

Hi all, what would be the correct Gorrila acorn 20 piece lock set for a 2013 Grand Sport? Thanks.
