Default Friday the 13th #2

Well, like **** Jockey I left work and decided to take a drive with my top down. I pulled off the Interstate, dropped the top, and drove the back way home. I went through the back of town and as I was passing behind Hendrix College a young lady cut right in front of me to turn left.

My damage is similar to **** Jockey's except I think the nose and driver side light will have to be replaced but I can't see any damage behind the nose. The air dam is also ruined.

Fortunately I have a great body shop in town. Damn, damn, damn.

Ah well, once it is fixed I will be done with law school and I will take my trip to Houston to have Corvettes of Houston install NPPs and M2W.

I'll also take this opportunity to have the body shop polish my whole car. Then I will follow Wolfdog's instructions and on with the Zanio!

I'm afraid I would be in prison for murder if somebody hit my "Black Beauty". I hope it all works out for you.

Diminished value is a concept where the value of the car once repaired is less than the value of the car before the injury. The difference is the diminished value and it is an amount of compensation that one tries to get from the guilty party. Not always successfully, I might add.

Who determines such value and how would one seek it?

To the best of my knowledge, diminished value is often excluded in auto insurance policies.....my policy specifically excludes claims for diminished value. If I were to be at-fault in an accident and if someone should sue me for diminished value, I wonder if my insurance would pay (under liability coverage or the personal liability umbrella, etc.) or simply say it's not something we're contractually liable for?

Wow........

I feel your pain, obviously.

Glad you emerged unhurt.

Best of luck with the repair, fortunately it sounds like you too have a shop you can trust.

Varies between states and insurers on both counts, determination and seeking it.

Texas does not allow that exclusion. When my wifes car was wreaked the agent asked me if I wanted diminished value. I said no, there was no structural damage just paint damage.

OP sorry to hear about the damage. Glad your OK and best wishes on the repairs.

I should have my vette back on Friday, Friday the 28th. No more Friday the 13th!

The total was right at $3,000. They replaced the nose and all of the support, the lower left air dam (or whatever it is called) and the driver side light assembly. The light was $995 by itself.

Luckily the damage was all cosmetic.

The following Friday I am driving to Dallas to have NPP and M2W installed. I look forward to that road trip; especially hearing the NPP open on the way back.
