New Corvette, new engine problem on 2012 LS3 engine
Hello to all
I own a 2012 Carlisle Blue GS convertible, with only 537 miles on the car. Engine had the harmonic balancer fail. Main concern with so low mileage is possible internal engine damage, especially #1 main bearing and connecting rods on #1 and #2. Has anyone experienced a similar problem with such low mileage?

go get it warrantied.end of story. They changed the design on the HB a while ago when they started failing 5 or 6 years ago.Diamond something or other in there now.Whatever damage your may have cause will be under warranty and therefore fixed for free.

I gotta say a wow, 2012 and they're failing. You may want to see the thread on HBs. I'll find it and post it here.

there is no recall on the harmonic balancer but there is a tsb if im not mistaken. these parts have been a problem since the c5 and have since carried over to the c6. not to worry OP your covered under warranty. It will take the dealer about a day to fix it as it requires a lot of work. My balancer failed at around 20k miles and even though i wasnt under warranty anymore being that my car is an 06 the dealer replaced it for FREE. Get it replaced and you should be all good. Funny thing with these balancers is that they can last 2 miles or 200,000.

If your crank did not crack, you should be ok. I would only replace it with an ATI, even if it cost me.
