Default Found this little tidbit of info...

Looking at a brochure for GM's salesmen(not for public viewing) on the 2013 Corvettes, found the following statement....

"Final Model Run — The Corvette’s 2013 model run, the 60th Anniversary of Corvette’s first model run in 1953, is scheduled to be the final one for the sixth generation Corvette and marks the end of the following models for some time:
• ZR1
• Z06
• 427 Convertible
• Grand Sport Coupe
• Grand Sport Convertible"

To me, that means none of the above models will be offered in the C7 lineup for some time(to use their words).

Hard to believe they won't have the Grand Sport coupe and vert available when the 2014s come out.

...suspect it is possible that the base & GS models will be "merged" for the C7, resulting in one introduced new model (coupe & 'vert) with upgraded features ?

I'm guessing the base C7 will be the equivalent of the C6 GS, but not carry the name. Maybe different engines, transmissions, gearing, brakes etc will be optional on the base model without having a seperate model such as GS, Z06, ZR1 etc.? Like they did back in the 50's & 60's. That will keep us guessing for awhile.

With the base C7 going with the aluminum frame(rumored) and possible other accross the line weight reductions going on, the Z06/ZR1 has less to offer other then their engines. It's a sure thing that the LS7 is history.

That does not mean there will be no engine options... I welcome a single body for all vettes to stop this constant fight among base and widebody factions...

Sounds like we may have communism at GM in vette department for a while... Imagine

That's the info I posted but not my source. I missed that posting. I read mine from the brochure that says at the bottom....
"GM Confidential. For GM salesperson use only. Not intended to be used for advertising purposes. Preproduction models shown. Actual production models will vary."

I blame Obama. Classic case of redistributing automotive wealth and trying to pit the 1 percent ZR1 and Z owners against the 99 percent base model drivers.

I'm sure as the years progress with the C7 they will add different options / models to keep interest and sales up, just as with the C6 and the rest.

Recalling the introduction of the C5 - in 1997 there was only one one model - the C5 Coupe.

Maybe this is an intentional stunt by GM to clean out dealer showrooms that are still full of have and have nots corvette variants... And wasn't Jalopnik rendering showing C7 ZR1? Seing how GM operates, not having upper levels at the date of release is standard MO, they release them later to keep sales going after novelty of new model starts to wear off. Kudos to Chrysler for not doing the same with new Viper, all trims available from the get go.

And in 2005, the C6 only had coupe and convertible.
