Johnny O'Connell Stage 1 Signature Series Suspension Kits - C6
#21
2005 Z51 that now has the JOC Stage 1. Long time Porsche 911 C4S owner and PCA HPDE Instructor who recently went to the "dark side" in PCA HPDE events with a C6 that I had the JOC Stage 1 done to before going to a 3-day HPDE last weekend at NJMP Lightning that included five hours of open track time for advanced drivers.
Best $1,000 I have ever spent on a car. For the track the ability to corner flatter and noticeably less dive on high speed track braking while still having comfortable street driving is pretty amazing.
Car feels slightly firmer on the street while noticeably better on the track. An absolute bargain compared to the $5K plus for the Bilstein PSSS9 I had on my last P-car that was then to stiff on the street on the softest setting.
If you're just going to street drive your car I wouldn't spend the money as the stock Z51 suspension works fine because there is only so much you can push your car on the street when you can't use the entire road due to the possibility of traffic coming the opposite way. If you're going to do both I can highly recommend the JOC Stage 1. Since I am going to continue to use this car on the street and not turn it into a track only car I specifically wanted a suspension set up that would provide acceptable performance on the track while still being comfortable on the street. It proved to be way more than "acceptable" on the track while only being mildly firmer on the street.
Hat's off to Pfadt and Johnny O'Connell on the development / tuning of the shocks and sway bars - they hit the mark for what they were trying to provide. I was a little skeptical at first, but I'm a believer now.

This demand for this kit is out-stripping the supply.
New orders are at least 3 weeks out according to the latest information today...

Stage 1 Suspension kit
I just had the kit installed on my '06 convertible. The car has 60,000 miles and felt tired. The kit transformed the vehicle! It feels like a new car. It's stiffer for sure, but not as stiff as my MINI S. Love the new suspension. Had to respray the rear swaybar black because the as delivered yellow is a bit much. I highly recommend the kit.

I also wonder how this package compares with a Z51 equiped car. My car is actually pretty stiff already and handles roll pretty well. The biggest issue i see is the dreaded wheel hop during cornering on uneven surfaces.
The color is also a factor give my black car but i might be able to deal with that. It's not like the bars are that visible.

Man, you guys are killing me - in a good way I suppose. I'm to the point I'm pushing my latest new set-up, and would like to eliminate the roll on my Z51 suspension during hard cornering.

Are these in stock and ready to ship?
Any issues with a lowered car?
Price with shipment to 80538?
Also, a rough estimate for shop time involved with the removal of a Z51 susp and install of this one.
Thanks

Haven't tracked it - I may though - but I presently push it pretty good on some very windy mtn roads. If there are any other items that are good to address while doing the JOC system, let me know.

How do like the JOC set-up? Any noticeable difference from what you had previously?

[QUOTE=Fly'n Family;1581381205]Excellent - thank you very much for your input.

HMMMMMMMMMM THATS A GOOD QUESTION. NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE, I WOULD SAY MORE OF A SUBTLE DIFFERENCE. A LITTLE FLATTER ON TURNS,a little better steering response and definitely a little stiffer ride. a nice little change thats worth the money but you will not win no indy 500 if you know what i mean. as other people have stated it "transformed the car".i dont think so. as i said in my opinion a nice subtle change thats worth the money, nothing more.

Thanks for articulating the change for me - gives me a better idea of what to expect. Looking to flatten out from turn in to turn out, and would really like to have an install and forget system versus having to deal with coilovers and everything that goes with them.
It may come down to getting the featherlights though, I'm not sure. I'd really like to eliminate body roll if possible.
Thank you for your input.
