Default i know it's an old thread but..

To me it sounds like this M2W is just an electronic relay with an RF signal for the FOB. If pulling the fuse makes it go into wild automatically, could you not just pull the fuse and install a toggle switch across the fused location?

After 13 months mine broke. If I get another one it won't be M2W brand. I didn't use it all that often, but I did not expect it to fail so soon.

I need some splainin' here. The M2W is a remote control for the NPP optional factory exhasust? Is that right? And, it allows you to proportionally open the valves to get more or less noise? I just installed a set of QTP low profile cutouts with wireless remote on my '09 and it provides me the same capability. My car doesn't have the NPP option and I priced out the B&B fusion at around $2,200 installed. The QTPs were $800 installed (turnkey) and they sound great. The additional set of cats, that Chevy recalled the car to install, provide the proper amount of muffling ahead of the cutouts to prevent the "open header" sound that I get from my '69 Mustang, where the cutouts are installed at the back of the collectors. I run with the cutouts just barely cracked to give it a little more aggressive sound. There's no battery issue with leaving them full on or full off or partially on. I love it because it allows me to just press a button and return to the stock "Toyota Camry" sound, ending interest from the local constabulary.

that is exactly what it is. You could go get an old school keyless entry and a relay and do the same thing. However it is small and is pretty much plug and play. I am going to just run a switch to mine as my remote is lost

Simple is as simple does. A switch will do the trick but is no where as easy or cool as the Sunset Orange wireless set up. It is as simple as plug and play gets except for a little bit of wire routing and it uses one of the home link buttons on your sun visor if so equipped. Yes it's more money but there is no drilling or extra fuse holders required to provide a series circuit. Each to his/her own but for me for 4 years it has been music to my ears at the simple push of a button.

Unbelievable, I bet they sold him a new battery also.

The home link would be the way to go. As I understand my 2012 does not have a learning system. It's different from home link.

Default Mild to Wild to Dead Battery?

I ordered and installed the MTW device around 7 months ago and It worked great. Then a few weeks ago I went out to go for a ride and dead battery. I looked everywhere to see if lights had been left on somewhere or what could be the cause. Charged the battery back up and took it to Auto Zone for a check. The guy put his battery tester on it and said the battery was fine. Then after two days in the garage went to start the car and same thing...dead! After reading some posts on this forum and others some suggested the MTW. Since that had been the only change made to the car, I disco'd the MTW and no more problems. Not sure if I want to do the no drain optional installation so might opt for the foot switch option that uses no power. BTW, the battery was a Delco about 2 years old.

Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience?

Rather than doing the 'collar' thing, I installed clips (speed nuts) over the butterflies which prevents them from closing all the way. The clips hold them open approx 1/8". 'Mild' now has a little more hummmm..... but not noticeable on the highway. I also have the M to W dead pedal switch which is much more user friendly than the fob. Absolutely love this setup.

Bought one from a forum member and installed it last month. No problem with the battery so far. I seem to recall the instructions have a way to install that will avoid the drain on the battery. Go to their web site and there are directions.. I will also look on my work table to see if I have the instruction sheet.

Bought one several years ago and had it on my 2009 Base Convertible. Moved it over to my 2011 GS Convertible when the other one was totaled out in February 2015. Never had any problems with it in either vehicle. I leave mine open about 95 percent of the time if not more.

Thanks for posting the picture. Assume this is just the clip and does not require a screw being used to hold it in place.

Appreciate members like you that take the time to respond and share great mod info.

No screw required. Just slip the clip over the butterfly. Super easy and just as effective as the collar.

Thanks for the replies...I have the instructions for the no drain hook up but not sure if I want to go that route. I will probably get the dead pedal foot switch instead.

Found a pair of the clips I had in my parts drawer. Installed them last night and it improved the sound when they are "closed" at idle.

Appreciate your input/pictures and unique & simple solution.

JB

IMO, the sound is much better than the stock fully closed position. The car has a noticeably louder and beautiful hum as I row through the gears (6spd m). Not harsh at all and no drone at highway speed. Enjoy!!
