At least you are ok. I know how you felt with the elbow. My left arm was numb when someone hit the right side of my Impala. I was shocked also. Only accident I have ever been in over 25 years of driving, until a road gator took out my 08 C6s bumper 3 years later.
Smart move about diminished value as your car probably just lost 20-30% of its value. Be warned that diminished value will take a long time. His insurance company will fight like crazy to reduce it and even argue the new panels are not diminished value. Pick up the car in direct sunlight, look at it from different angles with the sun, then find some shade and do the same. My AO never looked right again in the shade.
