C6 Coupe OR Convetible, what to buy
#21
Having owned by a Coupe and a Vert C6 I can say without reservation that the Vert is a far superior experience. I would only get a coupe if I was going to track the car or needed the luggage space but the Vert is better in every other regard. The top is a PITA to remove in the coupe and there is too much wind noise/buffeting on the highway. There is a much more tire/road noise in the Coupe but slightly less wind noise. The Vert with the top down is what it's about for me. I'd never go back.

To sixty mph and up the coupe is quicker than the convertible, and to 130 mph the base is quicker than the G/S in either the coupe or convertible due to aerodynamics, according to tests reported in the July 2012 issue of Road and Track. This implies real world mpg at highway speeds will also be greater in the coupe than the convertible, and in the base models rather than the G/S versions.

Whichever one you own is the best.

It’s all personal preference as stated above. In my case, if I got a vert I would have to always wear a hat to protect my head from the blazing sun due to my thinning hair. Where I live, the sun can cook you pretty quickly. So the coupe worked for me.

One thing surprised the hell out of me....The vert is actually much quieter inside the cabin than the coupe. The wall behind you in the vert dampens tire roar and road noise substantially. And yes, I own a coupe.

I have owned both. Early on I always had verts. When they stopped making the verts I obviously went to coupes and stayed with them when they went back to making verts because I used my vette as a DD and live in the northeast and found that I did not put the top down very often when I had the vert. Now that I am retired I am back in the vert and do not regret it.
As many have said before, it really is a personal choice. They also are $5,000 more than a coupe so that may make a difference also.
Good Luck. You cannot go wrong with either.
