Adding 2009+ features to 2007 C6 - for bluetooth capabilities
#21
I realize this is an old thread but I also replaced my GM Nav unit in my 08 with a Kenwood DNN992. If you send a request to Kenwood tech support they will send you instructions to replace the boot logo screen with one of your choice (called OEM) and they will supply you with a download link to a picture editor to make your own screen. The background screen can be replaced through the settings program.
I did both my boot screen and my background screen and I am very pleased with the results.

Yes, easiest is to change the column with one that has steering wheel controls and if you don’t care if the onstar matches the cars ID then it’s a plug and play, just make sure the module you get has the correct matching plugs to your car as some years had three and others only two

Hi Guys,
I'm changing my stock unit out on my 2009 Corvette. I don't have the Bose system. I need to know what is needed to keep all of my stock capabilities.
What type of dash kit is needed?
What type of adapter is needed to create a plug and ply type of situation?
Thanks

I just picked up a NAV radio head unit out of a low-mile 2009 to install into my 2007 Z06. My car already had the NAV, but no onstar (at least not that I can find!)
In order to get this unit to use the BT and pair with my phone, it sounds like I need to get a steering column out of a 2009 or newer car with NAV, correct? Or would any 2009 + column work?
Anything else I need to get/do to make it work?
Thanks!

The NAV system and radio all work, except it won't display a clock anywhere (those boxes are just blank). Any idea why?

does your current column have audio controls in the wheel? If it does you need a steering wheel with the Bluetooth buttons or add them, and an onstar module from an 09-11 I believe, make sure the plugs on the onstar match your current plugs, should be two white plugs

Yes, my car has the radio controls in the wheel, but not the ones on the left for what I guess would be for the phone.
I located a new GM wheel for a 2011 that has the correct switches and got that ordered.
Now just have to check out the module. Is that located behind the drivers seat?

I've installed the entire 2009 column into my 2006, I also added the nav radio from a 2007, the audio controls work and the bluetooth buttons on the wheel light up, so I'm assuming if I had a nav radio from an 09+ then it may work, I too would like to keep the steering wheel functions, I know the bose blose but I want to keep this car mostly stock for now.
After the holidays I may attempt to get a later model nav radio and finish the bluetooth function, its electronics and I'm sure with the right parts it can be added

I installed this XM-bypass device some years ago -- Kawal Xm Bypass device ( The XM radio in my car never did work. The dealership passed me off to XM, who passed me back off to the Dealership, and I just said screw it; there is no need to have XM for 6 months free and then have to listen to hustling on the other end of the phone when I cancel, a known outcome. )
Anyway, this bypass device been a complete blast to use, but now my iPhone headphone jack has gone flaky. Some things plug into it, and some others don't, or they short out kind of violently in intervals.
So I am wondering now, if I can just buy a BlueTooth adapter such as ,
Thanks for sharing all of your attact plans for improved radio and connectivity to smart phone..
P.S. Just to clarify, the 2007 Z06 1LT (i.e. No Navigation system) does not have Bluetooth, or an auxillary jack, from the factory.
