Default Competitive Mode???

On my 2007 C6, when i press the traction contol button the first time it says traction control off. On the second press, it says "Competitive Mode" What exactly is the competitive mode and what things are enabled/disabled? I do NOT have the Z51 package.

IIRC "Competitive Mode" turns off traction control but leaves active handling enabled. So you can spin the rear wheels but will still get some help in the corners.

TC off just turns off traction control, full active handling is still in place. Competitive mode turns off Traction Control and loosens the slip angle constraints on Active Handling. This allows you to get a bit sideways before AH intrudes, cuts engine power, and uses differential braking to try to straighten you back up. If you know what you're doing, competitive mode will let you go faster, while still retaining AH as a safety net. All off removes the safety net, and can let you get into deep trouble in a New York second. Even race car drivers prefer competitive mode to all off mode.

Hold down the button for 10 seconds. IT turns everything off and you can crash all by your own pedal pushing and the car won't try to help save you.

Competition Mode is the fastest way around the track. I've done over 1,000 miles on the track in the C6's and Competition Mode is by far the best. Go back and read the auto mag articles about the C6, when it first came out, and they will tell you the same thing.

Hold down the button for 10 seconds and it is 1969 again, with a big block and skinny tires, ready to skate anywhere except where you point it.

Until the brakes give up and over heat from trying to correct your excessive slip angles.

Brakes will give up regardless of the computer setting. That's a factor of the driving style. If they do go, I'd love for the computer to save my azz.

I usually turn all AH TC off. The brakes last much longer that way and usually dont start to give up unless it is 90+ degree ambient temps.
Not to mention this actually helps you work on YOUR skill rather than having the car make you LOOK like a hero.

Default Surprise

I own a 09 auto and I was using the paddle shift, while sitting at a stop light at 2am I got into pretty damn hard and in the DIC it read Competitive Drag Racing Mode, to my surprise I'm thinking WTH did this come from. I know of the competitive modes better never saw that won before and I never turned off the TC.

Traction Control

There are 4 separate modes:

1. Traction Control - On .... Active Handling - On (Engages when the car is started)
This is the default mode.
This is recommended for normal driving.

2. Traction Control - Off .... Active Handling - On (Engage with 1 push of the button)
Turning off TCS allows the rear wheels to spin, but allows the Active Handling to fully assist in skid control.
This is recommended for drag racing.

3. Traction Control - Off .... Active Handling - Reduced (Engage with 2 pushes of the button)
This is the Competitive Driving Mode which allows the rear wheels to spin, while reducing some of the input that Active Handling has to assist in skid control.
This is recommended for road racing.

4. Traction Control - Off .... Active Handling - Off (Engage by holding button for at least 5 sec.)
This may be used when the driver does not want any on-board sensor input that may effect power reduction or brake application.
No rear wheel spin or vehicle skid corrections are automatically applied.

Note: The Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) is always on and is unaffected by the various Traction Control or Active Handling selections that may be made above.

Are you sure it didn't say "Competitive Driving Mode"?

I remember some plug and play add on advertised here that lets you customize what you see on your DIC. Probably something like that installed. Not a factory message.
