Default Grandson and Cars...What a Great Day... Pics inside...

This was opening weekend at the LeMay Car Museum in Tacoma, WA. It is the largest car collection in North America and it's very impressive.

Anyway, I took my grandson and as we were pulling in, we were unexpectedly invited to show the Vette in an area set aside for specialty cars. We were led to the first row nearest the main building and parked among other Vettes from a local club. I was very pleased and surprised to be included here. I pretty much keep it detailed so I was more or less prepared to show it.

Here are pictures of just a few of the hundreds of cars on display inside the museum. If you are ever in this area it would be very much worth your time to visit.

Grandson and Me with Red Racer
just outside the museum

1948 Tucker ...rear engined 6 exhaust pipes. This guy was way ahead of his time.

1930's Rolls Royce...an absolutely beautiful vehicle.

1931 Deusenburg
...love those headers....

1911 Baker Electric Car
... back to the future

The "Bug Eyed" car...

1959 El Camino

Sounds like you had a great day with your grandson. Time spent with your family is one of life's greatest pleasures. But when you add in a Corvette... priceless.

Thanks....

He's already asking if he can have the car "when I no longer need it".... I told him not to hold his breath on that one...

He's been my Corvette buddy for a long time...

Thanks for sharing. Grandkids are priceless! Hmmm, Corvettes are right up there too! Put the two together and it is a great combination!

My Grandsons are a little older. The one just turned 20 and the other is just about to turn 16. Two weeks ago we spent the weekend out of town autocrossing the Z. The older one was entered into the event and we both drove the car. This is the second time he has competed in the car but this was his first time on a GoKart road course where speeds could approach 70mph. He did very good and by the end of the weekend he had dropped 9 seconds off his time and was within 3 seconds of my times. The other grandson rode every run with me or his brother. On the video during the runs with his brother you can hear him coaching his brother. Telling him that Grandpa did this or that, or my favorite one you aren't launching hard enough, you need to get more speed before going into the first turn. Next couple of years are going to be fun.

Looks like you got 'em hooked on Corvettes!

My (not so) little buddy (anymore) jokingly (I think) asked me to teach him to learn how to drive in the Corvette. For years, I'd promised I'd teach him to drive when he was 13. Well, that time has arrived (time flies) and he hasn't forgotten that promise. But....it'll be in my DD Buick Regal GS.
