Even with a dead battery in the fob, you can still start the car by placing the fob in the glove box slot.
The metal key goes in the keyhole above the rear license plate, next to the button you use to open the trunk/hatch.

GM really ought to come up with a manual or something with this kind of information. They could put one in every car and reduce the post count here.

I didn't know it.
Thanks for the info.
I'm learning more and more on this Forum.....about the Corvette and the crowd.
We're still waiting on ours to be built. I'll have to be sure to read the owners manual if I have a question that's for sure. Nothing like getting a razing by your friends if ya don't know something.
Thanks for the info.

Page 77 of your 2007 owner's manual states the following:
Battery Replacement
Under normal use, the battery in your keyless
access transmitter should last about three years.
The battery is weak if the transmitter will not
work at the normal range in any location. If you
have to get close to your vehicle before the
transmitter works, it is probably time to change the
battery.
A weak battery may also cause the DIC to display
NO FOBS DETECTED when you try to start
the vehicle. If this happens, place the transmitter
in the glove box transmitter pocket with the
buttons facing towards the passenger’s side. Then,
with the vehicle in PARK (P) for an automatic
transmission, press the brake pedal and the
START button. If your vehicle has a manual
transmission, press the clutch and the START
button. Although this will start the vehicle, it
is recommended that you replace the transmitter
battery as soon as possible. The DIC may
display FOB BATTERY LOW.
Notice: When replacing the battery, use care
not to touch any of the circuitry. Static
from your body transferred to these surfaces
may damage the transmitter.

Regarding your question on "Where goes the key?" Page 84 of your 2007 owners manual has this information:

Nah, by definition if they were to call it an "Owner's Manual", no one would ever read it. They should label it with "Free Buffett coupon inside". Then we could be assured that everyone would read it cover to cover carefully searching each page for the coupon.

After so many years I am still amazed at the amount of people who do not realize that manuals are only read by the technically inclined who would miss them the least! Anyway, I got quite a scare when during an eight hour journey my fob went dead. Fortunately I recalled to do the glove box insert and was quickly on my way again. At the first sight of a Home Depot I got a replacement battery.

I guess I will have to download a manual since I didn't get one with my car even though it was certified. I didn't care I got a great deal. No nav disc, one fob, no manual, lots of smiles since though.
