C6 interior cleaning
Many folks have complained about the "low quality" of the Corvette's interior, but I have no problems with it. I do have a question about how best to clean off the filmy surface residue that seems to constantly accumulate on the soft vinyl parts like the dash and door panels. It is a thin grey scum the lies on the surface and will rub off with my finger pressure. But, once it is "cleaned" is seems to return, even though the car spends almost no time baking outside in the sun.
I have only about 6,500 miles on the car (2008) and it is the standard no-frills interior. I've tried Meguiar's ultimate interior detailer, simple Windex, and the old stand-by, plain water, but the filmy stuff never comes off without streaking and always returns. (The seats are OK, no issues at all) I just removed the car from winter storage (yeah!! sunshine and no snow!!) and the interior is coated with this grey film, again. Seems I never am able to stop cleaning this off to doors and dash.
Any suggestions for products to better remove this film on a more permanent basis?
Thanks,
NS

I still get it on my '05 and it will be 7 years old next month. Your best bet is to just wash it off with a clean cloth and plain water, then repeat when it comes back. I'm now at the point where I only need to wash those surfaces a few times a year - it's not a big deal.

Aerospace 303, nice clean look, UV protection, great product use it all the time on the interior.

Owner's manual indicates that it's best to just use plain water with some very mild soap if necessary.
My guess is that the filmy gray stuff is the residue of those chemicals you'd been using that have not completely been washed off. Keep on using just water and a clean rag and eventually all will be well. I know this to be true.
The manual warns that using those commercial 'clean 'n shine' products will cause streaking and an uneven appearance.

I get that residue right where I rest my elbow. I use 303, but the residue comes back quickly. I also have some problems with the 303 streaking.
