Default Subaru WRX STI or GS ILT

Can't decide if should get a Subaru STI or Grand Sport.The STI is an awesome vehicle,but so isn"t the vette!I have a 2008 Zo6,and think that the GS would be a let down from that great car.Also the price.I can get the Subaru for 35.000k,as opposed to the GS 1LT that would be 50.000K

Few things wrong :

- you're on a Corvette Forum;

- "...but so isn't the vette."???;

- are you keeping the Z? no real need for two, altho that'd be nice

-and it'd be nice if your profile said where you live---if you live in Orlando, no real need for an STI but if you live in Fargo, maybe yes.

Keep the Z06 and get a used STI for a DD.

I will only comment on STi: It has an engine plagued with its ring-land failure issues, so you'd be moving on from a car whose engine is known to fail to another car whose engine is known to fail. EvoX beats STi hands down in pretty much every aspect, and unlike Evo9, looks good inside, too.

A friend had a new STi,the rings cracked at 1500 miles. Pretty silly question here on the CORVETTE forum.

Get the GS

Since you already have one of the best vettes ever made, I wouldn't even consider a GS, and it will most likely be the biggest dissapointing car purchase you have ever made. Get the STI, because it will be a different type of fast, and they are also very versatile and fun cars.

2009 or 2010 CTS-V. It's also worth test driving a new EVO as well, I like them better than the STi. I just got a BRZ for a daily here in New England to compliment my Z06, great little car, but is somewhat slow compared to an STi or GS. One of my requirements was good mileage since I drive 100 miles a day.

GS would just be spending 50k on an inferior version of a car you already own.

Or get a previous gen M6 Honda Accord V6, plenty of fun and great mileage.

Having driven several STi cars including new Limited models & many Vettes. This is no contest. Unless you NEED 4 doors, the Vette wins & it is not even close.

But you already own a Vette so I would not get another unless the Z is being sold.

Mazdaspeed6 GT gets my vote. Owned one for over 3 years & loved it. A little slower than an STi, but MUCH nicer inside & doesn't look like boy racer outside.. Still an M6 AWD turbo car & can be made fast easily.

Do you need 4/5 seats or are you ok with 2? Then, does AWD make a difference to you or are you ok with RWD? Is having a Corvette really important to you?

It's easy to pick either car and justify it, or you can buy a used Corvette and a used Subaru, then live happily ever after.

Since you live in North East, I would strongly suggest the STI. Throw on some winter tires and you have a great winter driver. RWD cars not so much, even with winter tires, assuming you could even find some that fit. AWD cars are a hoot to drive in freshly powdered parking lots. Just think four rooster tails while doing donuts.
