Anyone running an Optima Battery in their C 6?
I just returned from a 3800 mile trip and it appears my battery has gone kaput...this is the second battery since new in 06. I'm told the Optima is pricey, but some folks have had them for 7 or 8 years without failure...Since my car is yellow, and there is yellow under the hood, I was thinking of a yellow top...Batteries Plus in Denton, TX tells me they do not have a listing in Optima for C6 Corvette. If you use one, please provide the battery part number. Thanks.

I have a Yellow top Optima in my 2010. It was pricey but I think it's a great battery which you can rely on.
Sorry I don't have the part number but you can pick one up at any local Auto Parts store (Advance, Autozone).

Two family members have Optima batteries in their vehicles and say they are very good. One Red top and the other a Yellow top. I am not sure any battery is going to last very long if sits for extended periods in a seldom driven car like many Corvette do. I plug in the Battery Tender Jr. if I don't plan to drive the Corvette for several days. No battery issues so far.

I got almost six years out of my OEM battery... I'm going to an Optima?

Now I have a town home with garage and can keep my Yellow Top charged, but a Yellow Top is built to be able to come back from discharging (more than the OEM battery) and be as good as new.
Once I discharged the OEM one a couple of times it just would die down quicker.
I consider the Yellow Top as a kind of insurance.
Nothing worse than getting into your nice car and it won't start.

Optima batteries are very popular with Corvette owners. Optima makes a good battery but I don't think they're worth the premium you pay (and my friend at the auto parts store agrees). I've always gotten good results with a top quality 'conventional' battery so that's what I use.

I have several Optima batteries over the years including Red, Yellow and Blue tops and have pretty much sworn off of them. If you use them frequently they are fine but if you do not you have to be VERY careful to maintain them and not let them drain. In my camper the Yellow Tops lasted a year each, in my boat the blue and yellow tops lasted about a year and a half.. The only one that worked pretty good was my DD Camaro which had a Red top.. For the cost there are a lot of good batteries out there that are not so sensative to maintenance and last just as long... I put an Interstate battery in the boat when the last Optima died and it has lasted 4 years and is ready to go this year! Thats just my two cents but I don't use or recommend them anymore...

I replaced my factory battery with a redtop in my previous C6 and will do it again when this OE battery goes dead in my 2010. I had zero issues with the optima redtop and found the cost to be worth it. I look at it like an aftermarket mod for the battery source since the OE battery sucks eggs.

My '06 OEM Delco finally gave up and I replaced it this week with an Optima Red Top.
Group 35 size with + on the right.
Fits perfectly, and I replaced the cabin air filter while I was at it.
I've had good luck with Optima batteries for may years in my other cars/boat.
Having a battery tender is a must since my car is not a DD.

I bought a yellow top in the spring. So far so good. We'll see over the winter hibernation period with a battery tender on, how it does.
