Why was the AWESOME 2013 427 vert not available in a automatic A6?

There have been a trans builder on this site comment that the A6 could stand up to 650 horse and get pounded on and make drag run after drag run. So now say again why no A6 in a 427 vert? I wouldn't buy new but when I heard about the 427 verts I thought. Give them a couple years to depreciate then I'll be shopping. If an A6.

We were told by Chevrolet when the Paddle Shift came out in 2006 that it can handle well over 600 HP. So, the question remains why not make it available. I can understand for 2013 it was not available for just one year but it should have been available a lot sooner. There are some people that just no longer desire a clutch (myself included) and I always thought the idea was to make sales. But watching what Chevrolet has done with the Corvette the last couple of years, they really make us wonder. Its well past time for Chevrolet to start giving the customers what they want and not what Chevrolet wants us to have ...

And I want a dual clutch computer shifted manual in the C7. Heck my sons VW GTI has it and it is WAY BETTER than my A6.

Well said. If Chevy was trying to sell to the younger market segment it would have had a much more "state of the art" drive train seven years ago. But then again the price of corvette would remove more than half of the buyers.

True. If GM gave us everything we wanted it would price the Vette out of the range of most people. But I can wish, right?

Everytime I see a Corvette with an automatic transmission a little piece of me dies inside. It's a sports car. Not a granny-mobile. My mother is 64 years old and has never owned an automatic vehicle in her lifetime, yet someone is clammoring for an auto in a 500+ HP sports car???
I could understand if GM / Chevy put in a double clutch synchronous auto-manual because they are significantly faster on the track. However, the automatic in there now is just a typical 6 speed auto with up / down paddles. Not cool.

Never been quite sure why some guys feel more masculine because they drive a manual or why it bothers some guys what other people choose as a transmission to own. The only possible conclusion is insecurity.

I for one have no problem with people driving automatics. I have drive my c5z through many many Atlanta traffic jams, it sucked big time. My vertical leap definitely increased from that.
But if they were going to put an auto in the 427 convertible, then they might as well have put an auto in the z06, right?

Sadly you're going to die young. Look up the sales figures of the A6 vs. M6 when offered as a choice. Make sure you do it with a doctor next to you.

Sadly, you are right. I think the A6 is more popular than the manual. It's not a masculine / insecurity thing. I guess it just befuddles me that people (in large numbers) purchase a world class *sports* car and lose around 50% of the experience driving it. Seems like a total waste. I guess that's why the Z06 / ZR1 are reserved for driving enthusiasts??? Only a couple other vendors limit manuals to certain cars: Viper, Acura RSX Type-S, Honda Civic SI... off the top of my head.
