Thanks to GM'er for the instructions on how to change the oil on the dry sump system. I am going to be changing my '13 GS's oil for the first time this weekend and that's almost exactly like I planned on doing it, but it's nice to have the pictures.

I also went with the Mobil 1 oil filter, but it wasn't based on any sort of research. Just grabbed it because of the M1 oil and thought, "why not?" Glad to see I won't have to take it back and get a different one.

A question though, does anyone use one of those oil filter magnets I've seen on corvettemods? Thanks.

I mentioned about the grease fittings because coyvett wanted to know if there were any that needed greased. Oil change time is usually a good time to also do grease fittings. You might want to check yours if you have not been doing them.

Well, if you own a GS convertible, I hope you don't use the info in this thread to change your oil with ... And I hope you didn't try putting 10+ quarts of oil in your GS convertible either.

Your car does [not] have a Dry Sump oil system.

It appears I am mistaken, but when I put my 2013 g.s into track mode 1 it shows a circular Tachometer, a G force reading and a scale on the rt side with an oil can to the top of the scale. The scale has 5 lines delineating equal distances.I took this to be an "oil amount" not an oil temp as it did not give an actual numerical reading.I know there is a guage on the dash for oil temp.Looking at the manual it appears that I mistook this hud reading for an oil volume, instead of an oil temp gauge ,its kinda weird as it looks like it is showing volume(just has a green line going north),not temp.In track mode 2, the same linear markings are on the right of the guage ,but it shows a "farenheight"cursor on the bottom of the screen. I just put this car on the road last week,so I will ask you to excuse my ignorance.Big jump from a 99 to a 2013,still figuring it out.

I didn't know that, I thought all GrandSports with a 6sp had the dry sump system. Learn something new here all the time.

As far as the GS is concerned ... Only the GS coupe with M6 tranny has the Dry sump oil system.

No convertibles regardless of transmission, and no automatics ... Only M6 coupe

flying24,owC6.Just drove my dd to work F150,and realized the two gauges are identical in nature to the vette. That being the oil volume gauge has an oil can next to it ,and the oil temp gauge has a farenheight symbol, now I know why this appeared to me to be the same as on my vette.

Some mention of the Zerk fittings from the Z51 and z06 and the need to grease em.
However, the OP has a Grandsport and I don't believe the Grandsport has rear zerks to grease do they?

Yes, the Grandsport does have the rear zerks. I grease mine at each oil change

Lubricant for zerks is spec'd in the Owner's Manual in the Recommended Fluid, Lubricants and Parts section.

Yep saw that, but I have read of it heating up and being runny?
I read a couple of places Mobil1 was better...they are all level 2 so all should work the same.

Great write up. I cut and pasted it into a Word document to save in my "car junk" folder.

BTW, get yourself a set of Race Ramps and you won't have to jerk around with all that jacking...worth every penny!

Great write up! Just used this yesterday for my first oil change in my new (to me) GS w/ dry sump. Going into it I didn't appreciate how this would be different from your standard car. The nose is too long for ramps, the car is too low for my low-profile jack, the car has to be level, 3 spots the car will be dripping oil, oil level checking procedure. It's worth the effort to know it was done right vs taking it somewhere but man it was an ordeal!
