Default 2013 427 trade for 2013 ZR1

I am kind of intrigued by the thought of getting a ZR1 for 20k off sticker with all discounts and trading my 427 60th anniversary. My car is not even three months old with less than 500 miles, by no means are my thoughts due to any dissatisfaction with the vert, the car is great! I am kind of tossed between the joy the vert brings vs. the track pleasure the ZR would bring, I am not partial to either but the 20k off has my mind spinning! It is hard to look the other way on the ZR with the discounts being so large, who knows maybe they will get greater over the winter! Thoughts???

The ZR1 BUG has bitten you and once bitten you need to scratch it. There's a brand new 2013 ZR1 sittng down here. 2013 60th car. As good as the 427 is, The ZR1 is a tad better!! I've owned both. Good luck!!

This reminds me of a friend of mine. His wife would come home from shopping and say "I saved you $500 on this outfit today because it was on sale!"
He would always cringe because he knew if he saved $500 it probably still ended up costing him $500.

My point being, depending on how much you will have to lose to save the $20,000 as to whether it is a good trade or not.
If the money is not a factor, then get the car you prefer.

When you sell your 60th to me for 50k you will take a big hit, but I'm willing to help you out if necessary.

I was kind of in the same boat (just down a couple models). I got a GS vert 2 months ago and have since noticed the great deals on the 427's. I had the itch to trade in the GS but when I was given the amount on my trade in, there was no way in hell I was going to take kind of loss on a practically brand new vehicle. I figure in a couple years there will be some used 427's out there and the new C7 will be out so I will spend my time having fun in what I originally bought until then.

Sorry guys I can't use the quote button from work computer, filters I guess!
@ ufaj26, It is better in its own way, the 427 though has the vert aspect! Right now i can't afford both and have always enjoyed tracking, this is part of my dilemna!
@ sjohnson2615, I like your analogy! Believe it or not the loss will be close in part b/c I will get 3k for having a Vette now which I did not when I bought the 427 and secondly my loan now is 2%, I can get 0% on the ZR.
@ steve8, and we live close too, thanks for helping out!!! LOL
@ sxs191, this is another option, just sit tight and see what happens! I will not be in the market for a C7, if anything I'd buy the GTS Viper! The ZR1 deal is hard to pass up, I am going to give it some deep thought! Don't forget ZR1 C6's will be done soon too, I don't see a comp from GM for a few years!! Jusy my opinion.

Dan.

I know exactly how you are feeling. I bought my 4LT GS convertible this spring and as soon as the 427 hit the dealer lots, I knew I made a mistake. I too am at that 20k+ price difference to trade up to a 427. I contacted one of the forum dealers and offered my car with 900 miles which has a msrp of $77525 (for which I paid much less) and 17k for a 427 and was rejected. If I find a buyer for my GS, I will let you know. Maybe I will take your 427 off your hands.

I'm here to help Dan!
I can shoot down to Ct with 50K, and I'll even give you a ride up to Mackmulkin so you can pick up your new ZR1. On the way home stop by our house for a dinner at our place.
What could be easier?

There is no question you will take a huge hit on your car if you sell right now. This would be a no brainer to me as I cant afford a loss like that even if the ZR is a great price.

Of course, I dont have the best judgement when it comes to corvettes as I'm sitting here with 4 of them right now! LOL

INMHO...you already have the best looking, most versatile Corvette ever made! For myself, I would prefer it over the ZR1. That's me, but you have to do what you need to do.

If it is all 'play' money...just get the ZR1 and keep the 427. I've never had a convertible. Love the thought of a 427. It's a great place to be having to make these choices. I feel like I'm living on the wrong side of the tracks.

Lots of thinking to do for sure! The 427 is a one year build that is spectacular in every way! The ZR1 with it's track prowess and great pricing is hard to avoid! Maybe the smart thing to do will be wait and see what happens after 1-13-13. I bought the vert mostly to enjoy the drop top, I do enjoy going to the track though!!! Thank you for your thoughts, I am all ears to any comments! Dan

I'm guessing you checked with your dealer already and was shocked how much less they'll give you for your 427 Vert. Unfortunately that is the price to pay if you want something different. Someone could probably give you a few $k more for it privately to help you out.

I'm glad I'm out of the 427/Z06/ZR1 decision problem due to my bad hip. No car is worth taking pain medication.

Taking a BATH comes to mind first! If your wanting money off!
Buy a 2010 with low miles for $50,000.00 less, Even if you bought for 20k off you still lose! Don't think they will trade you with 20k off the ZR1. Thats not how it works!

Default 2013 427 trade for 2013 ZR1

I always get that itch........and just completed a Sale of my 427 60th Ann. Convertible for a trade for a Night Race Blue ZR1.......I did it because I did not need 2 Convertibles since I have a Camaro ZL1 Convertible...
May sound a little confusing but as I have done in the past I had a Buyer and the Dealer took it in on a trade ...the new Buyer picked it up the same day and took it back to Canada....
It all went smooth----nice Guy --he was happy and I was Happy....here in NY its important because of the 8. something % tax savings..
STILL I do not have the final figures on my Purchase here on Long Island even though the ZR1 is Built and will be at the Museum on Monday...
Not sure if here in New York the total saving will be $20,000...the Dealers do not hit the prices of out state Dealers......there is a Tax Savings of $6400.00 and the $3000.00 purchase credit...........not sure yet where the Dealer will go below Invoice and the handling of the $1500.00 Dealer credit........
Like to know your thoughts where the additional credit balance comes from.......Harvey

The big persuasion will be the trade allowance or as some have said if I can place it first. Harvey is correct in that I will get a huge tax savings and an extra $3000 for Corvette loyalty, I have to see what I get for the 427, that will have a huge play in my decision. Don't forget I will pick up a large amount of savings with the 0 yes 0% the dealer is offering on the 2013. I am paying 2% now so that will add up to a fairly large amount!
