Default Clutch

Blew the clutch out of my 427. Possibly the slave cylinder. It's getting looked at. Anyone else have clutch problems ?

Odds are usually the CL master cylinder. Symptoms, mileage, use?

Well. 12400 Miles. It's a 427. I drve it like a 427. So I hit the clutch hard. Get rubber gear to gear. In my mind it should be made for that. Lol

Yes it should be, unless it's every shift
Sticking with M/C. If not I'd get a second opinion unless you know the shop well. Just my 2 cents.

Probably the Slave Cyl. There is a TSB and the dealer will replace it at N/C if that is the issue. Mine went out the day I purchased the car. Dealer sent a tow truck and replaced it on a Sat. All was well.

Guys I may be mistaken here as I have not read all the service bulletins. There is a bulletin for the clutch master cylinder. These cars have a hydraulic throw out bearing instead of a slave cylinder. To replace the hydraulic throw out bearing would likely involve pulling the driveline back similar to installing a new clutch, an expensive and labor intensive job. A new clutch master cylinder can be replaced in a couple hours or less.
So I think there is some confusion here. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

My clutch slave left the original owner dead in the middle of the road and was replaced under warranty. Not extremely rare to hear of

Yes on the Master Cylinder. Everything is being covered under warranty. I am paying nothing. I'm hoping to get the car back tomorrow. I might get more info. There was a TSB for the master as I understand.

Corvettegoran, so cool that you have a 427 in Sweden. Guessing not too much around like it over there.

Asch, let us know how you make out. Light likely came from something simple they did. Clutch position sensor resync? Car still looks good on the flatbed..sorry for your troubles.

Vacuum leak somewhere at the new clutch master cylinder. Part on order. Caused it to run lean. That was the check engine light.

True, it is not common here in Sweden. In our club, Club Corvette Sweden, there are about 2500 members and only 5 members have a 427 Convertible. The dream of having a 427 started when I saw a yellow one at Stingray Chevrolet dealership in Florida 2014. I have not for one second regretted buying it.
