there should be a small rectangular metal plate affixed to the intake manifold under the plastic cover. Should be on the right (passenger side) rear area.

mine is currently under a cover in storage otherwise I would go and get a picture for you.

I would respectfully disagree. At least from the photos, I'd say it looks as if it would be approved by Dave Kindig or Chip Foose. If you just don't like hard tops, fine, but that looks like beautiful work to me.

Has anyone experienced leather delamination on the dash of their 427? If so, where and what did you do, I had a sizable bubble appear on the passenger side of mine. No pictures because I used a tool to press the bubble out - but I fear it will return. If it does, I will surely take pictures. I am told that this has happened to some ZR1s as well.

Do a search in the forums. This is a pretty common problem and not easily fixed. So far, I've been lucky (knock on wood) and not had that happen.

Default question for the group

I am in the market for a 427 vert. What are the differences between a 1SA, SB and SC car? Thanks

I am not sure, I have a torch red 427 with under 6000 miles for sale at 52K, no power top or heated seats but a pile of other options. I have a list from Chevy, kind of like a build sheet, that I could scan and email to you.

One other thing that is kinda cool is that the VIN# ends in 0427.

Mine is 1SB and it has everything I want. Nothing against the 1SC, but I have heard about some owners having trouble with the leather. I just want to avoid any problems. You can do your own research on the issue.

Mine is also equipped with the 1SB package. For me the power top was the best part of that package.
Thank you Konadog06 for there link. That was very informative.

I would think that this might be able to get you in as a "hard top" for HPDE / track day type experiences, which I currently can't take my 427 out for without putting a rollbar in it. The A pillar supports aren't enough with any V8 engine'd car to pass their safety rules. I'd have to go read through again to see if this would allow for participation - if so... I think I'd like to know how much it is to get one. =)

I have had mine since new. 14k miles. Use Mobil 1 as required. Change the oil when indicator says the oil has 50% of it's life left. Wait till the oil temp reaches at least 130 degrees before hammering on it. I did a lot of research on that subject and found 99% of the engines are fine. The ones that blew were mostly track vehicles. I would not worry about it. Buy one and smile every mile you drive it.

No, within reason.
Wrote this the middle of last year.

/ I've owned one since new (2006) and added a second LS7 (427) in 2015. I can't find a problem. I've done actual research and looked at the stats, the percentage of cars with incidents is so small IMO it's crazy to worry about it. You did not hear about these cars having problems until the last few years. If you look at the government statistics most claims/reports were relatively recent, in the last few years. At the time I looked about a year ago, less than 100 on over 30,000 LS7's built.
A recommendation to someone looking for a nice LS7 powered car is to look for an original owner, lower mileage if possible, with good disciplined maintenance.
These cars were built to be run. Many have and not been well taken care of, then they break. If you can't help but worry about a train coming, get it checked. Oil analysis helps with some worries too.
I realize with any new car, some will have flaws, the new C7 has some too. Warm these things up properly before hitting the revlimiter and keep up with quality oil & filter changes.
I am in a circle of 8 LS7 original owners ranging from '06 to '13 model years. One car a '08 now has over 130,000 miles, with none having engine issues.
Due your own research if you're concerned./

Bought mine new, don't drive it that much, right now about 9200 miles, change the oil once a year and send off to be analyzed. Each report has come back with everything in good shape. I would not worry about it. It really is a great engine.
