Default Adjusting Alarm Sensitivity?

Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of the C6s alarm?

The C6 Corvette does not have a shock sensor. There is nothing to adjust. If a door or the hatch is opened without the electronic key fob while it is armed it goes off.

How about if someone bumps into it-will that set the alarm off? I noticed you have a Firebird in your avatar-Ive got an '02 and liked being able to adjust the shock sensor.

Yes the F body cars did do have a shock sensor. I had a 2002 Camaro Z28 that went off constantly on its own, until I had it adjusted at the dealer.

A C6 corvette does not have a shock sensor to the best of my knowledge. The alarm will not go off if someone hits the car... unless they hit it so hard they pop open a door or the hatch

A door or trunk is either opened, and the alarm goes off...or it is not opened and the alarm does not go off. There is no grey area here...no adjustment of anything.

Why would you want to disable it? It's what keeps thieves from stealing your car.

What problem do you have with the alarm by any chance? In the seven years I have been on this forum I have never heard of anyone having a problem with the alarm on a C6.

If it is going off when it should not you should probably have it checked at a dealer.

The C6 can be bumped around and then dragged onto a flatbed truck and taken away and unless the door or trunk is opened, the horn will not honk.

Other than to disconnect the horn, no, it is an integral part of the car.

I thought the intrusion sensor was in the middle of the dash, doubles as the light sensor

There is no intrusion sensor. The BCM just detects a door or trunk opening using the switch that turns on the interior lights.

Not to hijack this thread (which I just did), I wish the stupid panic button on the fob wasn't so damned sensitive. I'll bet I bump it twice a month. Nothing like trying to fish a fob out of your pocket with the alarm blaring away!

I'll bet you have the '08 and up fob design....in 4 1/2 years, I have never had that happen with the older fob that I have.

Yup, is embarrassing.
Seems had the plastic FOB holder's buttons been recessed it'd be a lot harder accidentally depressing uless actually needed.

We had the old fob design on our 2006, and now the new one on our 2009. The new one is a major step backwards- bigger, heavier, makes it easy to lock the key in your car with the fob, and the accidental panic alarms drove me crazy.

Easy solution:
Google "fob jacket" and buy a couple in your favorie color.
Cut a thin but stiff piece of plastic (notebook cover) to fit inside the jacket and cover the complete front of the fob. Cut off the sharp corners.
Make a small hole in the plastic over each button, so you can push the button with the tip of a ballpoint pen.

My panic alarm used to go off a couple of times per day (lots of stuff in my pocket), now it's about once every few months.

Open up the fob (like for a battery change), find the metal disk on the back of the rubber button. Then either remove it or cover it with tape.

There was a thread a while ago about a shock sensor. Turns out that vettes made for non-US (Europe I believe) consumption do have a shock sensor. You can order the part, but I believe the consensus was that this GM part was not plug and play on US vettes.

In that thread someone posted some diagrams about how to wire in a shock sensor. It plugs into the BCM. I was going to try and follow his lead, but the shock sensor I ordered was on back order and I gave up. The person trying to add this feature did eventually pull the diagrams and I never heard if he was successful or not. I assume not.
