My story is very similar. Except I am an engineer and bought a 2006 Convertible, which is just like new, so it is like a new car to me. I have 5 kids, and two more to put through college, but we have managed to get out of debt and save up enough for a Corvette.
So I can relate! Congrats!

Great story MPH..... enjoy your new ride. Appears to be Crystal Red..... our last one was that color and it's by far the richest looking on the car, especially when clean IMO.
Hopefully, the weather where you are cooperated enough for you to get a couple of nice rides in before the white stuff started coming down.
So how did you get the car off the flat bed once home? Another roll back?

I can relate. I've been a Firefighter for 37 years. The pay was never great, but the job is the most rewarding thing I've ever done. I have had to work part-time jobs for much of my career to make ends meet. Put my wife through school. She is an Accountant and we live a comfortable life. I have owned many used, old, tired sports cars in my life, but I am now on my second Vette, a 2013 GS LT3 (MANUAL). Life is sweet.
Enjoy your car!

Very cool story and a great reward for your "*** busting". This story made me feel good after reading it. You paid yourself back for all your sacrifices and care for others! Grats and LIVE THE DREAM!

Le Mans Master
My story is alot like yours. Grew up poor, started working at the age of 12 picking rotten fruit out of shipping crates. I worked construction, delivered food to shut ins, and worked phone sales in a "boiler room" operation. With no other options, I joined the Marine Corps at age 20 and 21 years later retired with a Master's Degree in a highly sought after field and have found myself quite blessed ever since. So like you, I know what it is to work hard, real hard. Nobody has ever given guys like us anything. We have earned what we got..
So, after decades of blood, sweat, and tears, The sum of my labors is now parked just 50' away, warm, dry, clean, and happy in the garage. My 2012 2LT Carlisle blue coupe is just so damned pretty. Sometimes I go out there and stare at her. I still can't believe how far life has taken me and my good fortune to be one of the lucky few to own one of these magnificant machines.
Good luck with your dream machine and I hope you are as happy with your 'Vette as I am with mine...
Cheers...
