Yea hitting that 200 mark takes some serioous power, thats the one good ting about the gt500 it would do good there and given enough space can hit the 200 mark under the right conditions stock.

I've made nearly 100 passes at the Texas Mile.
My stock Z-06 would run high 160s.
My Katech Z-06 managed high 170s.
My C6 ZR1 ran 180+, as most of them do.
My Callaway GS ran high 170s (178.5).
Lou Gigliotti of LG Motorsports told me at one of the events a couple years ago that one needs approx. 800 - 850 hp to the rear wheels to hit 200 mph in the standing mile.
If you want to have some of the most fun you can have with your clothes on - go run the Texas Mile. Unlimited runs. All out. Got get it.

Would love to but it's 1,800 miles from here! They don't require a roll bar for verts do they? Oh I see that they do but only if I ran with the top down.

Good stuff! Running in a straight-line doesn't do much for me but that would be fun. I've never been anywhere where I could run for top-end speed. I'd be curious to see what my car could do. I've seen a couple videos of Corvettes losing it at 200+ mph at the Texas Mile. Fortunately, I think the driver's all walked-away.
Thanks for sharing the video.
Exactly, the blue painters tape on the sides of the car (around and behind the wheel wells, along the rocker panels) is to help prevent rock chips. The tape closing-off openings on the front and sides of the car is for aero enhancement. I'm surprised more Vettes didn't fold their side view mirrors back flat against the car to improve aero efficiency.
