Default C6 Improvements during Years of Manf

I have a 1999 C5 with 34,000 miles, magnetic red convertible , A 6 SPEED MANUAL. I need now an automatic since I am 69 and do not run through the gears as easily as in the past. I thought about trading for another low mileage C5, however thought it would be a better idea to trade for a C6 convertible.

My question, is there a specific year(s) that I should concentrate as to improvements? No hurry, would like to make the trade before spring. Thanks for reading and your comments?

As new as you can afford 08 and up If you want auto to shift good go for used 2012 they changed the programming for the auto for better shift times.
My wifes 09 auto If you wanted to change lanes and stepped on it was so slow I would be in the next lane before trans down shifted made for interesting lane changes to say the least.

Thanks for the heads up, however a convertible is a must! As previously stated an automatic and low mileage (under 40,000). Thanks for your comments.

Get an 08 or newer, new design LS3 engine, runs a ton better + good mpg. Ive never gotten worse than 23 mpg & gotten 30+ several times, (age 70).

I must be driving uphill a lot. Friggin' 9 gal saddle tanks seem to always be on empty.

2008 was a year of major improvements for the C6. Then 2010 was the Grand Sport introduction, another significant change.

You can go to the corvette action center link and see the changes by year.

That should help you decide on option level upgrades, etc. that happened each year.

Thanks to Johny3 and to Seadog for this information. This is exactly what is needed. I will zero in on a 2008 or above convertible...automatic.
