Default Is there a list of exhaust systems for the C6???

I know this is a really dumb question but, my wife and I are ready to to buy an exhaust system for our '05 Z51. She has already said that if it is to loud then it is immediately coming off. I've been looking for a list of exhaust systems for the C6 from loudest to softest (or vice versa) but cant seem to find anything. I know all the basics about most of the brands like Corsa not droning but im not exactly sure what drone is.

Anybody know of any sites with information or want to make any lists?

Sorry, let me rephrase the above paragraph, my wife doesnt care how loud the sytem is as long as there is no drone. (I'm guessing drone is what makes your cabin feel pressurized and makes your ears hurt???)
So I guess I'm looking for the loudest exhaust system without drone.

Thanks!

Grady

if louder and coming off...then why are you buying a new system?
Z51 is a handling option NOT a model of the C6 family and it has nothing to do with engine performance nor sound nor exhaust types.
Look to Corsa's entry level catback system. I believe called Touring. It will be louder and deeper then stock but may be passable with your wife.

Sounds like you need a dual-mode system.

Google "NPP In A Box".

Good luck with that. You will probably get some drone from any aftermarket exhaust system. When my 2005 was stock and I had the Magnaflow 14336 mufflers it was a good sound. Not loud. Very mellow. There was a little drone, but it wasn't bad at all.

However, once I did the headers and cam....drone was insane. Switched back to the stock mufflers. Of course now I feel it is too quiet so I am about to put on some cutouts.

I would like to achieve the same effect being desired by the OP - I am still stock and it is too quiet - my '01 Trans Am had the perfect balance, I wish I could replicate that in my C6...

Before swapping, maybe you guys should check out a fairly "free" mod.

I don't want to try and "mod" anything so I do ruin it.

Corsa Touring or Sport is probably your best bet. NPP is ok if you don't mind all the clutter at the tips.

ANY aftermarket system will be louder, that is what more airflow does. The way they change the tone is what matters. I would get NPP in a box put it on and enjoy, loud when you got your foot in it and mild while cruising.

I pulled the fuse as soon as I got mine however, for open all the time!!

Your results will also vary if you have a coupe or convertible, A4 or M6

Since convertibles have a trunk and don't have the rear hatch area you can get away with a more aggressive tone without the drone. Coupes, the sound is amplified in the hatch area and Convertibles muffled with the trunk.

A4 transmissions may keep the engine in a high drone RPM band, whereas an M6 the driver has a bit more control of the shift RPM's.

If you have a Coupe and an A4 and wan't more tone and little to no drone, I suspect a NPP system is the best approach.

In my case I have a Convertible/M6 and have FlowMasters. Like you OP I come by way of the Trans Am and very happy with the sound of the exhaust on my Vette, nice rumble, but not sure it would work for some with Coupes.

If you have a local Corvette club, contact them and ask if any members have a C6 with NPP or aftermarket exhaust that you and your wife could hear. Otherwise you risk an unhappy wife.

Go onto the YouTube website and search for Borla, Corsa, Magnaflow and any others that you see posted on this thread. There are tons of videos of each exhaust.

I did the free modification on my 05 that also had the Z51 performance package. It was a nice touch and gave a deeper sound for free. There are tons of threads on here that walk you through it step my step. My dad and I did mine in about 30 minutes.
I am now in my 06 Z06. It has a B&B exhaust on it and I absolutely love it. The sound is amazing. It has a little drone but only at 1300-1600 rpms. But I also have the dual switch and can turn it off when on the highway for long trips and it is dead quiet. The best of both worlds.
Good luck, keep us updated!
