Skip Shift Eliminator catch-22
I recently purchased and installed the skip shift eliminator for my 2013 GS. I took it for a test drive this morning and it seems to be working properly. However, I am now staring at the Malfunction Indicator Lamp on my dash. UGH! I read on a post after I purchased it that it doesn't work on the 13's but I figured I'd give it a try because the place I bought it from doesn't mention any issues with it on the 13's. Guess I have an issue.

Blown smart fuse working fine on my '12 as well.
I cant see what they would have done to the 13's just to change how the CAGS works for the last year of production. I would make sure it its plugged in all the way or it may just be bad.

I don't get it...............why do you need to pay for a skip shift eliminator. It's the biggest rip off going.
You can opt for the fuse solution or just shift to 3rd instead of 4th.
Both my Vettes are 6 speeds and I never had a problem.
Most of the time I'm reving high enough to avoid the skip, but in real slow moving traffic shifting to 3rd is easy enough. These engines have so much tourqe it's like going from 1st to 2nd in a normal car.

Where did you get your kit from ? i got mine from SLP in NJ for my 13 GS and have had no problems in almost 2k miles. The 1>4 light still comes on, but no mil light.

smart fuse
I can say the Smart Fuse mod does work on a 2013 Grand Sport. I purchased a couple of 10A minis from O'Rilleys for $6 and I haven't had an issue yet. I used my motorcycle battery to blow the fuse. And I still get the dash light but the lock-out doesn't engage.

Excuse me if I am being a little ignorant.
I understand that if you pull the fuse out for the skip shift, it will stop it from engaging but it will also cause the check engine light to turn on.
But can someone explain to me why a blown smart fuse can trick the skip shift from engaging without causing the CEL versus a blown regular fuse?

I believe it only allows enough current to light the LED on the fuse when it's blown which in turn makes a complete circuit but with such a small amp draw that the device it's connected to doesn't function.
I don't quite understand why the Skip Shift Eliminator isn't doing it's job with the CEL though.
