Default 2013 Vette 427 Anniversary Edition: is it worth the extra bucks?

Hi guys,

I had Corvette when i was younger. Now that iv have moved out of the city i think it is time to get one again. A friend of mine suggested the "2013 Chevrolet Corvette 427 60th Anniversary Edition".

I like it a lot, but is it that much different from the normal one? Now that i have opportunity to buy one it gets me thinking should i get this Anniversary Edition or save a bit of money and get the normal one. But if i get the normal one will i always be thinking about missing out on the Anniversary. What a head bake!

What do you guys think, I'm a bit rusty in Vette game, i value your opinion? I found a good write up here hard lives corvette.

Short answer.... YES. I'm one who just traded a 2 month old 2013 GS 60th Anniv 6 speed in on a new 427 60th Anniv Vert.

I knew I wanted the 60th Anniv when I saw the color combo but was only focused on the GS as we had previously had a 2010 GS in CRM and loved the car. I never once gave the 427 60th Anniv Vert a thought....... until a couple of weeks later when it struck me. I wanted the epitome of the "60th Anniv" model, and it had to be the 427 (which I had also always wanted to have owned one) Vert. Now, after seeing it for a few days, it really stands out compared to the coupe. With the cyber grey headlight housing, and the carbon fiber package, chrome ZR 1 wheels and dark blue top, this thing POPS

Hey....... I've already gotten over the initial mild pain on the trade hit, but Mike @ Criswell had what I wanted and I'm very happy we made the switch. I would have been second guessing myself if I hadn't done it.

You better hurry........ last day of production for the 2013's is tomorrow. These will start drying up quickly. I also didn't want to wait for the 2014 as I knew I loved the C6 style, and the C7 will have to grow on me. Also you won't see deep discounts on the 2014 for some time.

GO FOR IT !

The 427 is the nicest C6 they've built IMO. For those who tell you to get a C7 remember you'd be getting a coupe until the vert comes out! For under 80K the 60th is the car to get!!!

If you are talking about the 2013 427 convertible with the 60th anniversary white with blue interior vs a 2013 427 convertible in a different color scheme, I don't think it will make any difference in resale value down the road. If GM had made that color combo white with torch red interior including the dash & carpets to look more like the original 1953 vettes, I think it would be a different story. As much as I'm more of a coupe fan, I would have bought one in that color combo.

As a 427 60th owner, I can say without reservation, YES, big difference, at least in my opinion and having owned 2 previous LS2/LS3 verts.

I got the 427 vert, but not in the anniversary color scheme. I got the color I wanted, with the namesake motor. It only comes in manual trans though, not sure if thats a part of your decision making process or not. For everyday driving, will it make a huge difference? no, but who buys these cars for that. They are great drviers with lots of cool factor. is the extra few thousand bucks for the 427 package worth it to you? only you can answer that. They are a limited production run, and it may or may not effect resale value later, but most of the guys who bought didnt care abotu that either.

I want a C7, but verts havent even been revealed yet. I KNOW what the 427 vert i and wanted it for this spring, not for a year and a half from now.

I went from a 2011 GS to a 427 with Heritage pkg. Frankly its soooo much more car and cool factor. Never thought I wanted a vert, but now I dont know why I ever didnt after 3 vets. This car is the best of the best for the C6 and I wont consider a c7 until after its been on the road for 2 years.

Not yes, but H*ll Yes. But I may be biased.
I've got 2 60th Anniversary Vettes, a 427 and a GS Coupe.

Thanks for the comments, lol that was quick! I think i would be a fool not to get one now. Normally i would go for my black on black colour scheme every time but i think i would regret it in this opportunity.

On the other side of things, excuse me if this is a stupid question but the author of that post on Hard Lives was going on about "Magneto-Rheological shocks", what do i gain from these shocks?

I wouldn't order a vette without the F55 (magnetic shocks) suspension. Really smooths out the ride on rough roads(tour mode). Sport mode tightens up the suspension for going around the twisties. You'll love it!!!!

The Mag Ride shocks (F55 system) give you the ability to change from tour to sport setting with the flick of a switch. The electrical current through the shock fluid is changed, which changes the viscosity of the fluid instantaneously, and gives a firmer or softer ride. Not a huge difference, but noticeable. I've had this system on 8 of my 11 C6's. I think it's a great system.

Just bear in mind that the overwhelming number of respondents that are saying go for the Anniversary model 427 Vert, are the same folks who bought them. If you like them buy one - if you would be happier with another color combo, buy that. In the next 10 years, I would suggest there will be no discernible difference in value come resale time - so don't buy an Anniv model on an 'investment' basis. And don't get me wrong, I love the Aniv models - it is a matter of taste and choice. Buy with your heart and your *** - once you're in this league of pricing, a few thousand here or there won't buy your happiness.

Most likely was Laconia Jack posting. He likes to pull out the technical terms for things. Magnetic shocks, or Mag suspension is newer and greater technology in many ways, with computer monitoring hundreds of times per second. It offers varied performance modes with the turn of a dial and is a cool system to have. If you have never had it, you won't miss it, and chances are you'll be delighted with your car anyway.

Great car I would love to own one BUT remember they only built them in six speed manuals no automatics so I wont ever get one otherwise a fantastic loooking C6 vert!
