Default Differential cooler (How do I know) need help

This weekend I plan to change my differential fluid. After reading several post, I been warned to check for a differential cooler before changing the fluid because the procedure is different if I have one.

Can someone send me a picture of what the differential cooler looks like and the location to find it so I can check to see if I have one.

No leaks on garage floor, boots not wet.
I did see splash marks on the underbody of car, driver side near rear muffler over-axle-pipe above differential boot. Splash did not look fresh but was slightly geasy. I cleaned area to see if splash re-appear. This is why I am changing the fluid to make sure its not low.

Dexron LS Gear Oil 75w-90 (3 qts) #88862624 Sythetic.

Need pictures to make sure I do not have a differential cooler

I have changed "drain & fill" my diff many times and never saw any cooler. I have an 07 A6 Z51 with 150,000 miles on it.

Z06s have differential coolers

here is the change method for a Z06.. note drain is a tube/fitting instead of a plug..
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c6-z...-specific.html

above link's pics match the instructions when c6 has cooler (about half way down)..

so... tell me if i'm all wrong, i admit i just looked up on the web and found this. if i'm wrong will delete to keep from confusing anyone else.. lol

If it's a non Z51 base 05, you will need a cut off allen wrench to get the drain plug out. It is located partially over the rear spring. It is a pain to get at it, so be patient. Use the latest diff fluid from GM. I don't remember the part # but the one you listed doesn't seem right. I thought it ended in xxxxxxx28. Could be wrong.

Don't forget the friction modifier unless you want the clunking noise we are so prone to having.

European export models also have the diff cooler as they are expected to be on ze autobahn cruising at high speeds. Dexron LS is the new fluid and it already has the friction modifier in it unlike most rear gear oil. Get your credit card ready as it is very expensive stuff.

How much for 3quart from Chevy dealer, or do you know a cheaper way to purchase it.

I think at dealers it is about $16 a quart...you might try Gene at GMpartshouse, or Kevin at Partstaxi, both vendors here on the forum.

When I got mine a few years ago, it was $26/quart at the dealers.
