I believe there is a trade out on the Nav system. If you have the Nav you get a one disc CD. That is the way my 07 is. The Nav takes up the space for the 6 disc CD system.

The nav only takes 1 disc but a changer was an option that was mounted in the passenger side cubby in the back.

Is the CD changer in your car installed at the factory and does it work through the factory radio like the XM radio?

Do you load all 6 discs in the CD slot for stock?

'Stock' CD player's a single disc device, OTHO for a 6 disc player 6 discs are loaded one at a time 'til loaded.

BTW IIRC for NAV equipted cars a 6 disc changer was a factory available option. Doesn't help those who bought a pre-orderedcar from dealer inventory. Such is the case for me.

I can't believe so many of you are geting this wrong.

If you have NAV you don't have a 6-disk player.

My '08 does not have NAV and I have the 6-disk player. It also has the plug for an MP3/Ipod device.

BTW, you load all the disks in the player in the dash. It is not a separate unit.

That said, I haven't played a CD in it for years! That's what an iPod will do for you.

If you have NAV you CAN have a 6-disc player. It was an option.

Ditto, but it is "had the 6 disc in the rear storage box". As a matter of fact, I have that 6 disc unit sitting in my attic and for sale.

If I recall, in my convertible, it connected under the waterfall in series through the XM radio module and then ran to the back to be located in the drivers side storage box.

I have a 2012, and investigated the rear mounted player. Starting in 2009, I think, the player was no longer available - no wiring in the rear, no control from the head unit.

I have one but don't use it. CD skips pretty easy on uneven roads.

I'm thinking this is correct. You can transfer more than 6 CDs to a single MP3 disc which the nav will play. Changers don't make sense after MP3 was introduced in 2005. MP3 discs don't make a lot of sense after IPod connection was added.

I installed mine seven years ago. Works perfect with no skipping.

This where it plugs in.

what if you want some good quality uncompressed music to make your sound system "sing" - don't you need CDs for that?

No, that's a 6-disk CHANGER. The 6-disk player radio/cd combo where you feed all 6 CD's into the player in the DASH is separate from the NAV. You cannot have NAV and have the 6-disk PLAYER. Of course you could have a separate CHANGER unit with NAV.
