What can be done to dress up the engine with the FRCs removed but retaining the stock valve covers? It's just too hidden as is. I'd like to see more engine.
The coil / engine covers on my LS3 never did much for me and I always liked the look when not installed.
I recently had a FAST 102 painted and then installed, (yes, I know not much HP gains on an LS3).
I plan on replacing the valve covers down the road. Nice looking headers help. I also like the look of red coils that I have seen.
To each their own but I like my engine without the covers...
Sorry about the crappy pic, it's the best I have right now. Also, the comp sticker is covering the scuff mark left behind by the stock air intake and muffler.
You can trim the FRC's by stenciling in blue paint tape and then cutting the FRC's. This hides the coil wires, and opens up the engine niceely. Then either paint the factory valve covers, or go with these Holley covers (available in 3 finishes) for $299.
Hey Garret, when the hell is this winter going to leave Minnesota? Soon as it does contact me and let's make a run:
There are lots of things that you can do, how much money do you want to spend? K-Tech has some great looking valve covers and coil relocation bars, check 'em out. you can also use the search function to see many engine pics with and without FRC's.
You can color it up all you want, but it's still quite messy and cluttered looking without the covers. Just my opinion, then again I don't often have to look under the hood anyway.
Here are a few of my favorites that have been posted here.
The last pic shows a 2-piece rocker cover that hides the coil-packs inside. Unfrortunately, I don't know who the manufacturer is, or even if they are still available.
