Anyone regret buying a Vert?
Been seriously looking at the 60th GS or 427 verts. Love the looks with the blue top and stripe package. We have never owned a vert and really never take the roof off any of our vettes beacuse the wind turbulance is crazy on the highway. Are the C6 verts better on the highway top down? I've drove a 67 427 vert top down, and my Dad's 56 Belair top down on the highway and they seem less turbulant. Don't want to get one then never take the top down.
Thanks!!

I guess I'll be the first. No, I don't regret it. A ball cap of some kind (my favorites are from race tracks) helps, but isn't really needed.
If you want, get one of the "wind restrictors." There are two kinds: one that has to be removed when you put the top up. And one that doesn't have to be removed---made of clear acrylic I think, and very nice since you can see thru all the time day and nite. NOt inexepensive, either type, but may be worth it to you.

I'll be number 2 after Bill. I've had two C5 coupes and now an 08 vert. Love the vert and the top goes down unless it is raining. I live in south Georgia and it gets very hot in the summer so I often ride with the top down and the AC on of temp outside is in mid to high 90s

I bought a 2007 vert and actually DID regret it.
I will say that top down driving in PERFECT weather conditions is absolutely amazing.
For me, living in Chicago, there are simply not enough of those "perfect day/nights" to enjoy - too hot, too cold, too windy...
For me, I got ZERO enjoyment out of driving with the top up. I ended up storing the car early, and taking it out of storage later.
A few years ago I ended up trading the vert for a 2010 fixed roof, and could not be happier. I drove last year into December before putting it to bed for the winter.

I was not in love with my vert. Too danged hot/cold here to drop the top alot. I prefer a coupe.
When the weather was just right I did enjoy the Vert with the top down.

I have had both C5 and C6 verts and enjoyed them both. However, when I was with my wife the windows were always up and it did help the turbulence. I also had a windscreen which also helped. You can't beat them on a beautiful spring or fall evening but I found that even here in Jersey there were not enough of those nights. I currently have a 13 coupe and and do not regret going back to the coupe.
ps: I do have a 95 vert to satisfy the urge for open driving when it strikes.

I love convertibles. The three Corvettes I had before my 13 Vette were convertibles. Now the wife and I want to actually go touring with the Corvette and she wants to bring our Mini-Schnauzers along. Well you can't put them in the trunk of a convertible so it's a coupe we got. Not unhappy with the coupe just that it's different. I'm hoping with the top removed it would at least be a good compromise. Haven't taken the top off yet it's been doing nothing but raining for the last two weeks in Wisconsin.

What he said. I had an '06 and only found too few days a year where the weather was perfect to put the top down. Also, had to have the liner replaced for holes caused by the design and found it a PITA to wash, treat, etc. I'll stick with coupes.

I love having a vert. I bought mine in early May of last year and had the top down 95% of the time up until late September. This is my first April having a vert, and i've only had the top down a few times so far. But May is coming fast!!
Someone mentioned putting in a Wind Restrictor which is an option. So far, I haven't felt the need for one based on too much wind, but they do look nice.
I think most people would agree that a vert is a hotter looking car than the couple...but only when the top is down. In cold weather, a coupe definitely looks better than a rag top.

I love verts and it's all I drive.
butt.......
A bunch of people love the look but HATE driving them.
Drive one first for 10 minutes. Then you'll know.
Yes, you do get blown at 75 mph
