C6 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
POR15 is great stuff!! Did the undercarridge on my 51 IH pickup. Tough stuff!! Got a little on my hand and it took a few months to wear off(my skin not the paint).
OP looks great!

I did mine two years ago and I removed the brackets, but left the calipers connected hanging on coat hangers. Had no issues! It took a couple of days, but this is one of the most cost effective mods there is. I think I spent under $80 including a torque wrench and 1/2 socket set from Harbor Freight! Now my back and knees…that’s another story!

also ... which brand of paint if i want yellow.......any easy way to get yellow with black letters? What tips would everyone recommend to get the letters a different color

Duplicolor - High Performance Caliper Paint Kit with Ceramic, Blue (BCP404) : Amazon.com : Automotive
I used lip stick on the letters and the paint peeled off perfectly. I did not paint the letters, but I think that would be doable with a little patience and an artist type paint brush.

Thanks for this post. I am not familiar with the POR paint. But it looks to be more durable than dupli-color. I've been told not to paint my calipers because it doesn't last. But I may give this a try. I've done the hats already. Now I just have to decide on whether to go yellow or red.

Thanks everyone!
To answer the questions.
This POR is not susceptible to UV & fade. If it were, I'd wager they would not make it for calipers, which see sun!
There still is a POR paint that is UV susceptible, but not this paint.
It is very durable, I had it on the calipers on my 82 for 2 years, no peeling & the shine stayed.
It took me 4 days of about 5 hrs per day to do this job.
I was seriously thinking of lowering it while I had the wheels off & had easy access to the lowering bolts, but figured I'd save that for later, one project to focus on at a time. That & the scraping of the air dam would be worse possible ripping it off hitting the "right" speed bump.
I removed the calipers & brackets, but not from the brake line, & I also have pics! (I take pics of everything!)
I am still thinking of painting the Corvette in black, not fully decided on that yet.
When it comes time for tires & rebalance, yep, just touch up the paint free spots for sure!
Here's the calipers masked:
The cleaned & with the rust preventive in place:
Then after the 2nd coat before removing the paint on the lettering:
The "cleaned" & masked brackets:
Then cleaned & with the rust preventive in place:
And after the 2nd coat:
I used loctite blue & retorqued the bracket & caliper bolts to spec.
I brought the car to work this past Monday & park in a place where no one parks near me & everyone sees the car, the paint on the calipers & barrels did make the chrome stand out as allot of people came up to me & asked if I bought new wheels!
Next "mod", clear bra.
Still undecided if I want the 18" up line on the fenders & hood as with black, it'll show more.

I just use rustoleum professional. Did a 2000 C5 and it lasted 13 years. Good enough for me.
