Default Battery

I am having difficulty charging my battery. Just used the charger to start another vehicle. When I hook it up to the positive post under the hood and the engine block I get nothing. Any ideas?

Sounds like death-by-discharge.

So, get a new battery.

Lots of "best battery" threads, like this:

Unless the charger is a huge one, it will not provide enough power to start a car without lots of help from the battery. It is to charge a battery not start a car, in spite of what it may say on the outside.

Battery is too far gone and your charger is not "seeing" the battery connected. Time to replace the battery.

Time for a new battery. For a good warranty at a reasonable price I went with COSTCO. Works great in mine and much less than a red top.

Do you know what the small, black cable in the battery compartment is. It starts on the right inside but isn't attached to anything else

You're kidding, right? A black cable near the battery? I see about 10 of 'em.

If you want more-certain help, post a photo that clearly shows the black cable.

I've had an Optima YELLOW TOP type 34 in my car for the last 4 yrs... & I beat the hell out of it.. I go to the drag strip almost every weekend, and while at the track I run the fan & electric water pump with the motor off.. for about 5-8 min after each round to cool it off...

Like I said its been 4 yrs and its still ticking like a Timex !! I did get the largest size I could "Type 34" it IS about 10 lb heavier than the OEM battery but I love it !

I also put it on a battery tender maybe once a month.....

COSTCO item #12850, Group 47, cranking amps 735/590, 100 month warranty. At my COSTCO it was their number 12 on the shelf. The first 3 years are free replacement, after that the remainder is prorated. I paid $65.99.

That's the one I want but they don't carry it at the one here...glad to hear that they have it there though...for a while it was not around at all. I think some BMWs use it. I'll check next time I'm in Calif....THX! Walmart has the group 47 at $95.99 and I would be inclined to think that the one at Costco is better...usually anything they put their name on is better.
