auto or manual????

Manual all the way. However, it is worth mentioning at autos outnumber manuals almost 4 to 1 across the production numbers...even more in certain years. If you're really picky about getting a manual in a certain color with certain options... Honker down. U may be waiting awhile and/or pay more than you'd like. Was certainly the case last month when I bought my 2010 C6

Test drive both and decide. I prefer manual transmission as it's more fun.
Good. Luck and have fun in your new vette.

Ask yourself this question, Do I want to drive the car or do I want to ride in the car? Its really up to you and what you are going to use the car for.
I perfer to drive my car others perfer to ride in the car and let the car have all the fun of shifting I will tell you this you will enjoy the car either way

As mentioned already do you want to drive the car or have the car drive you. All this stuff about the auto and paddles shifter is fluff. Get the manual and enjoy the car, be part of the fun.
Autos are for people who do not want to shift, do not know how to shift and just buy the Vette to cruise around in.
Bang some gears and have some fun, manual!

Go auto, who want to be in traffic, with manual.

Who buys a Vette to sit in traffic? What about when you are not in traffic? Just be honest why you got an auto, all these made up reasons are misleading. Plain and simple you hate working the clutch and shifting no big deal.

Mine is a manual and if I had to do it over again, I'd go with a manual. Reasons - fun to drive, sounds better on deceleration, use brakes less, less brake dust, $1200 cheaper (new), it's a sportscar not a minivan.
OP - since to asked everyones opinions, here is the scorecount;
MANUAL.................................. ............15
AUTO.................................... ..............4
(Fence riders/non commit/no answer.........9)

I test drove both and felt more connected to the manual. It also felt like the auto took some of the punch out of the car. Newer autos may be better....and when Chevy gets the dual clutch transmission on the Vette it will be a game changer. However, running through the gears is a part of the fun. Just my opinion....

Just so that I'm not a fence sitter....I would choose a manual.....in my mind, the case for auto is made when you live in a large metro area and sit in traffic a lot. Many in my area spend hours each day in stop and go traffic and its a nightmare.

It all depends on how accomplished a stick jockey you are. If you can't downshift properly or heel and toe on the twisties go with the paddles. There's nothing worse than sitting next to a driver that slips the clutch to bring up the revs. IMHO most manual Vette weekend warrior drivers are mediocre...thats why Chevy sells the autos by such a large margin over sticks.
