I am not a veteran show guy but my thoughts for what they are worth are: If its being judged by judges, I would leave them at home. If its one that's being judged by the spectators I would show them off to plant the seed that you have a winning car. People like to be right and how could they be wrong picking a car that has won before. My 2 cents.

I go to a few now and then. They can be fun! Talking cars and seeing the kids enjoy them is what does it for me. Usually the money goes to a good cause too! The 50/50's, the food, raises a lot of money for good causes.
Go to have fun and debunk the Corvette snob theory!
If you happen to land a trophy or plaque, all the better, I don't worry about it myself, it's a $3 item!

Hey Reggie,
If it's a judged show.....don't bother. The judges will be looking at their assigned areas and plaques are not on the list.
See ya in Jefferson.

Well...thanks for all of the replies. I did detail the car, then detailed it again. This was a judged show (4 judges). Out of 16 Corvettes, I won 1st place. I did not carry the previous plaques. Car is immaculate where you can see, interior, exterior, and engine compartment. Underneath may be a different story.

Larry, I can't compete with your car. It was a lot of fun. About 120 cars of all kinds showed up. We had a little club bet going on about who was going to win...all in fun. Had a great time with some good folks.
PS...see you in Jefferson

Leave them home. I have a garage full of trophies, not one less than 2nd, and I've never taken a single trophy to any show. Even have a Best of Show in a show with over 300 cars and didn't have any trophies on display. Lots of guys like to take their dash plaques too.
Leave them home.

Personally, I'd leave them at home. Just more items to pack and mess with. Detail your car, sit with it and smile and talk to people. Enjoy the show. Good luck!

forget the trophies, id spend more time detailing the undercarriage. Thats where I got ding'd two tenths of one point on my first car show..............and that caused me not to even place in the event! The inside of my rims were spotless, the wheel wells spotless and so on......my black paint is beyond perfect, then the undercarriage judge comes over, says go go gadget arms and reached probably near the torque tube and got some dirt on his fingers. I was pissed, but regardless, Ill never make the same mistake again.

As all have the same opinion leave them home. However you need to read the judging rules. There are some shows that give you points for display. This is where additional items will help. I go to one show where you get 5 points for an emergency kit that must contain a gas can. oil can, flares /triangle, and a fire extinguisher. You also get 5 points for display. The additional 10 points will sometimes put you over. Most shows are a show and shine though so it is all how clean the car is. I put on 1 show a year and help 4 others and each one is a little different so as originally stated you need to know what you are being judged on.
