Default Axleback Exhaust Fitment on 05.

Hey,

I know this must get asked a lot and I tried to search, but needed a solid answer. I have an 05 and wanted to know if there was a difference between 05-08 and 09-13 when it comes to buying aftermarket axleback exhausts. I was looking at a Borla axleback, but it's on a Grand Sport. If it's just axleback, it should fit fine on my 05, correct?

Uses the same 2.5" and pretty much same hangers/piping/etc. as an 05-08 car? I plan on getting LT's, so it'll mate up to LG Super Pros or PDAFT Headers.

Thanks.

In '09 they changed the angle of the passenger side pipe out of the X-pipe.....something like 5 degrees or so......but trying to mate pre-'09 X-pipes to '09+ over axle pipes doesn't work without modification....which any competent muffler shop can do, it just isn't straight plug and play.

To avoid problems, if your axle pipes/mufflers are from an '09+, just find an '09+ X-pipe to go with it.

Yeah, when searching I read people saying the mufflers won't mate with stock X pipes of 05-08 cause of that design change.

Now, my question is with LT headers, does it matter? It's not going to mate up to the 09+ stock x pipe. And headers all work 05-13 for the C6 if I'm not mistaken right?

Just want to confirm they work with aftermarket LT Headers before buying them.

And this means, if I did get rid of the headers later, and wanted to go back to stock headers and keep the Borla Axleback, I'd need the 09+ mid pipe since it won't mate with my stock, right?

Thanks for the help Rick.

Most header manufacturers offer their own X-pipes to mate up to their headers. So you would still need to tell them which year over axle pipes you have so their X-pipe would line up properly.

Yes.

I didn't know headers came with 2 different over axle pipes, I thought it was 05-13 all in 1 style.

No one else can chime in on a similar experience?

Update. I can't find 05-08 model of the axleback I want, but I did find 09-13. It's couple hundred cheaper than a new 05-08, which is also an option, but is it worth it to just have the shop modify the over axle pipes to fit 05-08 if it's only 5 degrees off?

Anyone else have an experience or know in detail how much work it is?

Thanks
