"repair" of Centennial Edition stripes...
My CE spent the first 5+ years of life in Texas, and the stripes show a lot of wear from sand, possibly hail, etc. Lots of little pits, lots of white dots. I checked all over the 'net, and all I could find for advice was to get them replaced. Someone told me it would be about $2k for the job, though that sounded pretty high.
At any rate, I decided to try painting them first. I bought a couple cans of ROL Satin black, a can of "GLOSS CLEAR", and a can of "MATTE CLEAR", tack rag, and painter's tape.
On my first effort, the small area behind the hatch, the gloss clear coat made it too shiny, almost like a gloss black. I decide to do the roof (off the car) with the matte clear coat.
The results were, I feel, very good, at a cost of about $8. I will be re-doing the small area in the back, and hood, on the next clear, non-windy day. After I get done, I will detail the entire paint job, remove that wax residue you can see along the edge of the stripes, and take more pics.
Steps I followed:
1. Wash car, follow with light clay bar over stripes.
2. Tape/mask off carefully. I let the tape overlap the stripes by just 2 or 3 100's of an inch. I used newspaper to cover entire rest of roof.
3. Wipe down very well with tack rag.
4. Shoot 2 very light fog coats of Satin black from opposing directions, let dry 45 minutes.
5. Wipe very light with tack rag.
6. Shoot 2 fog coats, from opposing directions, avoid pooling or "wet" spots, if possible. Let dry two hours.
7. Wipe lightly with tack rag.
8. Shoot medium coat of matte clear, allow to dry fully.
9. Wipe lightly with tack rag.
10. Shoot medium coat of matte from opposing direction.
11. If no runs or other defects, carefully remove tape when paint is tacky.
Let dry a few hours before handling, and several days before washing.
Your results may vary. Even though it is not exactly "as new", nobody, even a sharp-eyed Corvette owner, is going to know they are re-painted. I am looking forward to seeing how this holds up over time.

As y’all know it can get real warm here in the south during the summer months... and the smoked top is a contributor to the discomfort as it beats down on you. To eliminate this issue bought a black top in like-new condition, painted it in carbon flash and applied the Centennial graphics. The smoked top awaits its turn this fall.

Up here in Michigan we don't have that problem. I also only have the clear top, but its not an issue here. Love SC. Making my annual trip to Myrtle Beach next month.

just thought I'd throw up a pic. Even though it came with the chrome wheels, I did track down a set of the black wheels with the red stripe. Put a pair of drag radials on the rears. Need to get around to putting on some front tires now. Put on a Borla S Classic (Stinger) axle back. sounds so good !

I realize that I came late to the show, but have been looking for a Centennial Edition t shirt. Ecklers had a nice one but it’s been disco’d. Been combing the net and no luck. Anybody know of any company selling one?

2012 Centennial Grand Sport
I just purchased a 2012 Centennial Edition Grand Sport, Bought in Atlanta,2 months ago ( Sept 2019) from the dealership that sold the car the original owner. Car had 1574 miles on it, plastic still on floor boards. Automatic , 3LT , Red stitch , ZR1 spoiler and Mag ride,Chrome ZR-1 wheels. VIN ends in 7431. Window sticker was in the car along with garage car cover and everything else still in plastic bags from the Factory. This is my second C-6 , First 2009 Victory Red Coupe. While first owner didn't Drive we intend to. Already have 3100 miles on the odometer. Battery failed yesterday, but hey 7 years on a battery tender who would have thought right? Only problem is factory tires are slightly flat spotted from sitting.

2021 C6 of the Year Finalist - Modified
Chevrolet got it's start in 1911
But Corvette got their dates all wrong ... The "Centennial Edition" Corvette should have been the 2011 model year Corvette

Never fear .... Just to make the error correct, this is the steering wheel on my 2011 GS .....
No, I didn't put any of the other "Centennial" stuff on the car. I won't ever make my GS a clone of something it's not.
But, this steering wheel emblem is my way of showing that the 2011 model year Corvette represents the 100th anniversary of Chevrolet.
