Default 2011 Grandsport, one oil change and 3 sets of tires!

My 2011 Grandsport with 7008 miles still has 36 percent oil life left. However I am on my 3rd set of tires. The first set (4)was replaced on warranty with a new alignment at about 3000 miles. The 2nd set of Goodyears (rear only) was bald at about 6000 miles. The 2nd set of Goodyears on the front are still good. The Michelin pilot super sports on the rear now for only 1000 still look new.
Too bad the tires don't last as long as the oil.

Any possibility of Operator implication with extreme tire wear ?

I had the same issue with my 2011 GS ... actually still do. I went through 4 FULL sets of tires in 20,000 miles..although I do drive hard, I still believe the alignment is a contributing factor.

Its been the most expensive aspect to owning the car...

Default Tire wear due to drivers actions?

I do auto-cross so yes I expect faster wear. But I have auto-crossed for years with all kinds of cars. Several Mustangs, Crossfire SRT 6, Solstice, and others. I have never had this kind of tire wear. That said it is still to be seen if the Michelin's will hold up better.

But we're those cars as much fun?

Default covered

I have a 2011 GS with 7000 miles on it that has only been in service for 14 months (it was one of the last 2011s sold). My question is are the tires covered under the 3 year 36k factory warranty? I have some vibration and was going to take it to a tire shop but if it is covered by GM perhaps I should take it to the dealer.

thats why i changed my mind about trading my base 2lt in for a gs. i hear too many horror stories about the tire wear on them cars. i'm not sure if it's the cars, or the people driving them causing the problem. i guess a little of both.

Nope, doesn't mean you can't find someone willing to help out the situation but don't count on it ...but some people have had success in getting a discounted tires through their dealer by working/ complaining to Goodyear...

The original tires are made to gripe which usually means they have soft compound and wear fast. Remember the complaints NSX owners had when their tires barely lasted 2,000 miles. I probably won't be needing new tires anytime soon since I don't have much chance to drive hard but have been wondering if the wheels from the standard vette will fit on a GS. I haven't been able to like the black wheels that came with the car and have been considering getting chromes when I need new tires. My car is black (carbon flash) and, to me, black and chrome looks great.

You might be just over the line. I believe that tire issues, including alignment, are covered by GM in the first 12 months. After that I think that you have to deal with GY. Correct me if i'm wrong.........

You have a CE then...me 2. And I agree the chrome sets it off...thought I wanted black but have since changed my mind on them on a dark colored car. I just order a set of black chrome waiting to see them on with my carbon flash...bth the car and rims will now change colors with the light.

Personally, I think it's primarily the way you're driving. I've spoken with many guys with bone stock, GS coupes, that are getting 16,000 to 18,000 miles out of the stock F1 GY tires. They all drive conservatively. Those that enjoy a "spirited ride", (translation - lighting up the rubber), go through them very quickly.

Mine is an 06 with 10,500 miles on it. Still have the original Goodyear tires and they look almost new.

I have the same tires on my Z06 as the GS has. I changed out the OE Goodyears at 12,500 miles. Went with Bridgestone RE050A run flats. Now have 13,000 miles on them and I am down to 8/32" tread depth(starting point of the OE Goodyears).

Nothing wrong with the GS that a set of Bridgestone tires won't cure. And they are way cheaper than the Goodyears and Michelins up front.

Got 9k on the OEM Goodyears, car was never tracked....backs were 3/32's and fronts 4/32's when removed from my 2010 GS a little over a month ago... a friend got 7k out of his Goodyears on his 2011 GS....fronts were into the wear bars.....I got the Pfadt street alignment after putting on Bridgestones.....time will tell if was the poor GY's and poor factory alignment...............

My 2012 has 5,100 and the tires still look great,I am not agressive on my tores. I ran across a set of Goodyear F1's new for my GS for $400,couldn't pass them up.
