Why are radar detectors illegal in Va?
Do they think this will prevent speeding or something?
The number of people getting speeding tickets, and the number of police makes me think it has no effect on speeding. People will speed regardless.
Plus I've notice most cops in va use instant on anyways.

A radar detector gives the driver an edge. That's why they confiscate them when stopped. I personally think it's Bull**** to have it taken from anyone. Va. has always been a S.O.B. with tickets for speeding. No one gets a written warning, Military, LEO, Retired LEO etc. Maryland has even gone so far as to post signs indicating the speed limits, and under them state " we do not give warnings". Saw those when we drove up north this past Xmas.

remember when a lot of the speed traps used to be in the south? virginia is a southern state. and maryland's not far away.
