Dumb C6 NPP exhaust question..
I just watched this video from Corvette Blogger:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEi6_...feature=search
In the video they state 2 of the pipes have valves that open and close based off RPM.(if you have NPP)
My question is, if you don't have NPP on your car, are the 4 pipes all "open"? Or, are 2 still "closed" and "unopenable"...not sure if that's a word..
Or, is it a tottally different system all together without NPP?

All 4 pipes are open on non NPP but the mufflers are different. NPP mufflers allow better airflow. That is why there is a min increase of torque and HP.
The video is correct on NPP. A lot of people get Mild 2 Wild which allows you to control the NPP such as keep it open all the time or whenever you want.

ah...
When the 2 pipes are closed, it forces the exhaust through the mufflers, when open, it bypasses the mufflers... it is louder, less back pressure, they say you gain 6 HP, and it is a lot more fun to drive, if you put on Mild to Wild, so you can open and close any time you want.....

That's why I roll with the fuse pulled.
I love that righteous baritone powerful exhaust note all the time.
I remember one time I pulled along side a new Camaro SS at a traffic light.
Even at idle you can still feel and here that magnicent exhaust note.
The guy behind the wheel of the Camaros jaw just dropped.
When the light turned green and I took off I looked in the rearview mirror
and the guy was still sitting at the light with a mesmerized look on his face.

Gives you the control just pulling the fuse does not give you.

But pulling the fuse makes the LS3 powered C6 MORE FUN TO DRIVE ALL THE TIME.
The personality of the car changes with the flaps open.
Gone is that sedate boring quiet Cadillac feeling.
Instead you get a wild untamed beast of a sports car that you can feel as well as hear.
That's the way a true American sports car should sound ALL the time.
Could you imagine that other American icon Harley-Davidson motorcycles with quiet exhaust?

"In honor of jpee"
that's if you want that wild untamed beast all the time. I don't. my neighbors and the police would seriously object. kind of a 'do unto others' thing...
I like it mild some of the time, maybe most. it's great to have that 'choice' thing, ain't it?
and to OP's question, yes, philies and athome are correct. works like slick, too, imo.

Another difference between stock exhaust and NPP/Bimode is that the stock C6 mufflers only have one outlet that has a "Y" shaped tip attached, the NPP/Bimode mufflers have 2 outlets, each with a tip.

Is there anyway to change the settings so that, when I start my car, it is open? That way I can hit the "RED" button to quiet her down. I too like the open sound and feeling just a pain in the *** always having to hit the button every time I shut her off. That is when I making multiple stops in a day.

I know in the Mild to Wild system, whether it starts open or closed is dependent upon how you install it...I have it installed so the car starts in the open position as you mentioned....

Photos; Stock LS2, LS3 mufflers. Notice the single outlet per muffler.

You know something, on my C5 Z06 i got that CAGS eliminator, I needed it.
For some weird freaky reason I do not seem to have a need for the skip shifter. It doesn't seem to kick in anyway as much at the C5 Z06 did. In fact, I don't even know when it kicks in. I wonder if it has it installed already by the previous owner.
Interesting post here that made me think!!!!!!
