Just wondering if anybody can get the wet look with some type of applicator, its been my experience that you can only achieve that look by spraying which gets all over the wheels and is a pain in the a$$...I've tried the cardboard 18" half circle cut out to mask the wheels but the card board gets all wet and soft and im too lazy to cut one out every time I wash the car...also don't wana use tire gel that **** flings all over the place...so any clean ways to get the wet look? Thanks.

I just spray a microfiber cloth (corner) and wipe on the tire.

They make a foam sponge applicator pad that you squeeze a gel product into and it wipes on effortlessly. You can buy them in your local AdvanceAutoparts or O'Reiley's or whatever.

ArmorAll Extreme Tire Shine is a cream product that comes with an dense sponge applicator -- apply cream to the sponge and wipe on. I fi you apply sparingly it will still shine great but sling off onto the car when driving. Get mine at Target.

Here's a tip (I got from this forum or somewhere).

For low profile tires, rather than a full foam applicator, go to Walmart and buy the little foam painting brushes. 2" or so works GREAT.

I wish I could find a high quality foam painting brush, the cheapies at Walmart bend more than I'd like. But they really work great.

Does the gel spew off onto the car? Last gel I used did, but I didn't use your technique...

I like the Matte finish sprays, I just don't like shiny tires

I took a cheap kitchen sponge and cut it in half. I spray the tire gloss on the sponge and wipe in on. I have never had a problem since I started do it like this. Works great and I didn't have to buy another product.

I use Zaino tire dressing. Black matte finish and no slinging at all. I apply it with a special sponge that, I think, came with the tire dressing from Zaino although it could be from Griots. I don't like the super shiny wet look so this is just right for me.

Obviously some of this depends on product but to main tips , apply sparingly with a sponge ... And allow at least 30 min to dry

Auto-Geek sells a wheel cover that looks like a trash can cover.It covers the wheels as you spray. you can cut it to size. OR use your own trash can cover and save some $

I use Adams VRT on a sponge applicator. It does not sling off and is dry in a matter of minutes and does not wash off in the rain. It is not a high gloss however.

I use a wax applicator. You can buy them in packages of two or three for a dollar or two at Wal Mart. I think you could really use just about everything, like an old wash cloth or piece of towel.

I haven't found any dressings that last all that long, but the Zaino tire dressing seems to last the longest.
