Your wife's comment is very prevalent in the industry, and she's correct.

I've paid tens of millions of dollars in property lines losses, and have many times, suggested that the industry should standardize some contractual language for all policies, that would exclude, or at least limit the contractual liability for acts of stupidity.

It's been calculated, that we would all see a rate reduction of approx. 7% in our policies, if payments for stupid actions were excluded, or limited.

So far, nothing.

Illinois rules call for the tail lights to be visible for 500'.
Not sure about any rule concerning the reflective requirements as the film can block any reflection. I put a small reflective sticker on the side mirror glass to help make the car visible in the dark if I happen to be parked on the street.

You can't see the driver to see if he see's you. Many times I have seen a driver not paying attention(with no window tint) and with me being able to see that he is more interested in his phone, etc, then me and he pulls out in front of me, I have taken evasion action to prevent an accident.

If you lived in FL you would have tinted windows.

and just as bad are heavily tinted windows (drivers side/passenger side). Being able to see what's going on beside them is diminished. Even much worse at night and or if wearing sunglasses.
Someone with a new bimmer with heavily tinted windows almost ran me off the freeway when that driver came right over into my lane. They were so dark I couldn't even see the driver...

Used to have blackouts on all my cars. Used to get pulled over a lot. I'm finished with that nonsense.

Try sitting inside a fish bowl under the Forida sun, and you'll know why.

As to the blacked out lights, not for me thanks.

Regardless of the diminished brightness consideration, I don't like the looks of them. It screams rice burner too loud.

Why in the world you want to put something like that on a car? Are you trying to reduce you visibility and make it more difficult for cars to see you?

That aside, call your local State Police Post and they will be able to answer your question as to the legality

Hey another one of these threads again...

It may or may not be legal in your state. I assure you even with a heavy tint you can easily see a modern day brake light from 500' even during the day.

As for the window tint and texting/gps use. I'm all for window tint in moderation. It gets hot as hell down here and I want to be cool and comfortable in my car. Window tint can be very dark during the day and you can see right out of it... at night it becomes the issue. I've had 5% which was awful at night but worked fine during the day. 25% for now is perfect for me.

Some idiot texting while driving isn't going to see you sitting in the road with your brake lights on or not. They're face down in a cell phone trying to find movie times while slowly drifting out of their lane into yours.

Florida just ends up being a humid pile of crap most of the time. If it's not pollen everywhere it's heat and rain

Yes. Florida is hot and humid for about 6 months a year. It's been like that for many thousand years, and I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it's gonna stay this way, at least until its under water again.

Looks like someone just detailed their 'vette...looks good, but the driveway is still the main event!

Because it looks very kool. Why do people install $4,000 worth of wheels, metal flake paint, badges & emblems, custom interior, etc.?

Same reasoning.

Sounds like you don't like my state. Why stay here?
