Obviously not more than 2-3" deep, so no big deal. When it's muddy and a Corvette it's great for the shock effect the media thrives upon.

Water wasn't too deep, shouldn't of been a problem. Trouble comes from unseen pot holes or other debris concealed by the muddy water. Not something I'd want to do, but sometimes you don't have a choice. Agreed that the Vette made a media moment for the TV station.

Has everyone forgotten that the best way through deep water is "slowly"?

I saw that last night.
I admit, I cringed a bit, but it looked shallow enough.

When you drive through deep water, the big problem is water in the air filter. That's why they tell you to go slow - so you don't splash water up into the air cleaner. Once the filter gets soaked, the car dies and Corvettes suck in air a lot lower than most cars.
You can get a kit for Jeeps and some other HD 4 wheelers that grabs air up near the top of the windshield.

Watch it again. The nose never touches water. The only water moved was done by the tires. It isn't even wheel deep and barely tire deep. The Vararam intake hugs the top of the front opening and the biggest danger is from bow waves from oncoming traffic.

I see that but, what if there was a hole or the water got just a little deeper? He could create his own wave. Anyway looks like he was fine.

Not exactly at flood level, no biggie.

These people drive through water without knowing how deep it is and flash floods happen all the time. Before they know it they can instantly turn into a boat and float away. This was on my street a month ago.

Actually the best way thru water is to enter with just enough speed to create a small bow wave for yourself. Once you establish your speed, maintain it or else the water will wash back towards your vehicle, and potentially your intake.
I've seen plenty of off-roaders do it, and have done it myself, without a snorkel. People usually run into problems when they change their mind part way in and slow down. Then the water levels back out and it's a wash...literally.
In the video, depth doesn't look to be an issue at all. It's just another sensational clip for the masses.

"In honor of jpee"
You will if you try it in deeper water. And then you will be in deep....well, you know the word.
