Default Polished Gumby's on my 05 DSOM: weekend project

So I've finally found the wheels I was after- going thur iteration and iteration in my mind of black ZR1's, Black Z06, or leaving the stock chrome repro 5 Stars on it... I found an awesome set of Polished Gumby's and just could not pass them up. Had the tires mounted yesterday- spent the rest of theat day and today painting the calipers and brackets...

Car has the Z51 package and I think they fill up the new openings of the Gumby's perfectly!

Pulled calipers off completely to paint using 900* caliper paint from a rattle can! 3 coats- about 30 minutes between each- let dry over night. Then using a razor blade, I carefully shaved the paint off the CORVETTE lettering and finished it off with some fine sandpaper to polish up...

Bled the entire brake system and she is back in business!

Let me know what you think!

Before:

After:

DSOM = AWESOME

Calipers are bright red, I thought about powder coating, but they came out great I think!

The new wheels look good but not enough different from the original ones to justify the change IMO.

Looks nice, but without putting a before and after pic side-by-side it looks the same to me.

If you like it better that's all that matters.

Nice. I like the Gumbies, and wish they were available on the C7.

Here's a double-Gumby shot for everyone.

love the gumby's

i like them most of ALL c6 wheels ever but i liked your chrome 5stars too.
got a set of chrome gumby's in the garage, there are 2 new front tires in my foreseeable future, at that point i will swap over to the chromes.
btw, my orig equip polished ones have chrome center caps, may have been added later (i'm not the orig owner) or different through the years.

personally not a fan of painted calipers but thats just me, i do like painted/plated rotors though.

Thanks for all the kind words- they Gumbys are a unique rim to say the least- are forged, and really open up the wheels a ton. You can see a lot more rotor and caliper then factory stock C6 rims did. I love the new look, I wanted a cool OEM wheel, I achieved what I was after!

The Gumbys are my favorite C6 wheel. I own a 2013 coupe with the base rims and changing them out was to be my first mod, however they have grown me so will probably keep them.

I love the Gumby's too. They are strong, light and really show off the brake discs and calipers. Good move!

What did you do with the other chromes. I am looking for one front in 18's. Mine have terrible curb rash and its not holding air. Are willing to part with one.
By the way the gumbys looks good and it does open things up more than the others. URL=http://s1191.photobucket.com/user/hawkjr1/media/v_zps6640896a.jpg.html][/URL]

Love my Gumbys.

If you're selling your old wheels/tires, I might be interested. Need some track wheels.

Are those the ones with the thinner spokes? I like those as well, a forum vendor was selling those in chrome I was considering... I went with the Gumbys because I quest to put Z06 calipers and rotors on my 05. Gumbys with a 1/4 spacer are known to be the only stock C6 (none Z06) rim to clear the big rotors/calipers...
