Trip odometer B
My 06 has an A and a B trip meter both with four digits and a decimal. On my 4,000+ mile tour recently I was glad to see the B meter still working into four digits and I fully expected it to go to 9999.9 but at 1,999.9 it rolled back to zero. I've seen three digit meters roll back to zero at 999 miles but after seeing this one go into four digits, I was surprised that instead of going clear to 9,999.9 it turned over sooner. Can this be correct? Or, in other words, can GM be this cheap?

I think this has been discussed on here before. And, yes, that is just how it works.
Probably nothing cheap about it, that was just how it was programmed. Now there might not have been additional memory storage available to handle larger numbers, so that's how it was programmed.

So how cheap was the car that only had a 3 digit display? And did it have only one, rather than two? Some older cars had none and the odometer even rolled over at 99,999.9 miles. Assuming the C7 has an A and B trip 4 digit meter that goes to 9,999.9, will that be cheap to the person who expects a C, D, or more meters to all be 5 digits?
If you really need documentation that doesn't require adding multiples of 2,000 miles, just use the odometer and record mileage with a pencil and paper, because once you push the reset button the trip mileage is gone.

I use my B meter for mileage between oil changes (as I did on my C5), and I swear it goes all the way to 10,000. But I could be wrong ... haven't checked it lately and haven't had the car all that long.

IT WASNT CHEAP, IT WAS JUST OLDER. WHAT'S YOUR POINT?
And did it have only one, rather than two?
JUST ONE, IT WAS A CADILLAC, JUST AN OLDER ONE. AGAIN, POINT?
Some older cars had none and the odometer even rolled over at 99,999.9 miles.
NO SHIITE SHERLOCK, HOW YOUNG DO YOU THINK I AM?

I HAVE NO IDEA. I'M BEGINNING TO THINK YOU WERE ON THE DESIGN TEAM THAT OK'D THESE FOUR DIGIT METERS THAT ONLY GO UP TO 1999.9. PERSONALLY I WOULDN'T EXPECT MORE THAN TWO METERS BUT AS LONG AS THEY CREATED A FOUR DIGIT METER, I WOULD EXPECT IT TO CARRY ALL THE NUMBERS AVAILABLE CLEAR UP TO NINE (9). HOW MANY WOULD YOU EXPECT? NOT DISAPPOINTED WITH THE TWO YOU NOW HAVE?

BTW, My '08 Cadillac STS trip meters both roll over at 999.9, if that makes you feel better about your '06 with twice the capability.

I use my B meter for oil changes too, and noticed it also goes back to zero after it hits 1999.9 miles I don't know why GM did this, they have to know that tons of people use the second trip odo to keep track of their oil change intervals!
