Don't mash the pedal all the way down in the lower gears when it is cold outside.

Default Vararam Experience

Thinking about putting one on my 427 as I had great results on my 01 LS1, both hp/torque and mpg. Anyone have any dyno results to share from their LS7?
Thanks in advance for your help!

You probably are not aware that this subject has been beaten to death on this forum as well as others...and a large amount of false info is floating around everywhere. You will hear many horror stories but will rarely hear from the overwhelming majority of happy owner who have never had a problem...including myself, knock wood.

When I was planning on tracking one of these wonderful cars down, I researched extensively. The bottom line is that the LS7 is a masterpiece that does not fail any more often than other high output high performance V8's. Probably something around the 1 percentile. Naturally, if you're one of those unlucky ones, you're going to lash out with all kinds of negative stuff. However, after consulting the most knowledgable folks on the subject, most of that is simply not true.

Hope yours gives you much joy!

It is difficult to get good information, but for the last few years of manufacture, the failure rate seems to be less than 1 per cent. Still might be a good idea to have your heads checked when the warranty ends.

X2 LS7's and I subscribe to these comments. Also have six good friends all original owners (different years) with no concerns. One with over 130,000 miles.
If you have concerns or worries have them checked. Or have the oil tested at oil changes.
Know that these cars were built to be run hard and most were. And now most have been with several owners as we are years down the road. They are not always driven and taken care of properly. Use common sense when buying, know its history or have it thoroughly checked over. Not just LS7's but any high performance car in a similar situation.
Have researched and read it all, 98% of which was only posted recently since 2015. Being the original owner of a 2006 Z06, I never heard of a problem before then. What I do know is how mine's been driven and taken care of and it's not going to be taken apart based on what's been written on the Net.
I enjoy the car so much that in late 2015 I purchased a second 427 so I could enjoy the LS7 with the top down. It's not going to be taken apart either.

Looking good. What's the mileage and did you buy from a dealer or private owner? What did you own prior, and did you sell, trade or keep it?

Bought from McCue Chevy in St. Charles, IL.

Mileage was 6700. I put 1200 miles on driving it home.

I used to own a 1998 Convertible with 6 speed tranny, but sold it in 2005 and have regretted it ever since. Finally got around to buying another.

Thanks

Rick

Yes they are! When I started the drive, the roads were clear, but it was cold, 14 degs F. Snow was in the forecast, but I was hoping to avoid the snow. Didn't work. Driving south on I-57 I got caught in the snow for 2 hours.

All was OK until the snow started to accumulate on the road. So I slowed way down and followed trucks in their path. I had to tap the brakes a couple times and the ABS came on immediately and had to be very gentle on the throttle or the back end would wiggle. It was like driving on an ice rink.

Was very relieved to finally drive out of the snow. I won't be doing that again!!!

I drive any car I may need to In any condition .. but ofcourse with options in winter months I shoot for trucks and or beaters But that’s not what I’m getting at ,,I don’t avoid rain per say but I have been surprised with weather while on drag radials couple of times and it’s a handful but when rain came down on drive back from the weekend on the 427 with 3k on odometer It was the worst and it stunned me and I’m a nut ., also anything below 40 F and I have to shake the car violently to get heat just so the car doesn’t slide around ... I’m not complaining it’s a wonderful car made purely for wonderful weather ( a lot down to the tires ofcoirse )
