Default Brake Pads

Time for new brake pads. Should I go ceramic or OEM. Not looking to track or race but do like speed. Who's got the best pricing?

I just changed out my original pads for OEM ceramics. I'm hoping that there will be less dust.

Hawk Ceramic from GM Parts House. Less brake dust but I would guess closer to 50%.

2008 Z51 - I replaced all four brakes with oem pads and rotors. No issues before and no issues after, so I staying with what I know works. I can deal with a little brake dust.

I've been doing a lot of research on pads. A lot of guys are happy with Akebono and Wagner. They are much less expensive and have garnered great reviews. Do a search. Hawks have gotten mixed reviews and it doesn't make sense to go with oem when you have a chance to use ceramic brakes and cut down on dust. They put them on the ZR1 so they must be good.

I have a 2010 GS and hear folks talk about padlett and single pads, what is the difference and how do I know which ones I need?

I have had Hawk ceramics on my Z06 brakes for 21K miles. No issues and much less dust than OEM.

I will seriously consider the Carbotech pads for the next replacement/upgrade.

Very satisfied with Wagner Thermoquiet semi-metallic. Great bite, less dust, no squeak. 40 bucks on Amazon.

I had OEM pads on my 2009 C6 Coupe when purchased in Jan 2013, it had the dreaded squeal when brakes were slightly applied, which I tried to live with. In August, I put OEM Ceramics on all four corners. The squealing stopped for approximately 1 month, but came back with a vengence. It was virtually constant, no matter how I applied the brakes. In November I put on Akebono Ceramics, and not a sound, I couldn't be more happy with them.

I too have a 2010 GS, simple padlett equals 4 small pads per caliper. (2 each side of the rotor)
single = a one piece pad; one pad each side of the rotor.

Mods,

Is there a way to make a "brake pad" sticky? This topic must come up 2-3 times per week and it has the same answers...

Some like Hawk flavors
Some like Carbotech flavors
Some like GM ceramics
Some like Akebono (only available for base models)
The occasional AutoZone or other brand pad gets tossed into the mix
Many confuse and confound by interjecting GS & Z06 pad discussions with discussions about base car pads (or vice versa)

Some get brake squeal, some don't
Some fix the squeal by occasionally braking hard, for some that doesn't work

Some use 1 piece pads for the GS & Z06
Some stick with padlets for the GS & Z06

Google has all sorts of pics of all of the above
