Default Vette Under the Wrench...

Worst thing that could of happen to my baby happen...

Friday afternoon, I was on my way to go get my new rear tires I was about 1 mile from the shop, and I went to check over my shoulder to make a pass, and when I turned back the car in front of me had to slam on their breaks for someone else. By the time I could put on the brakes and with the weather that day and worn rear tires I had slide right into them.

Thankfully everyone is okay. But the the Vette not so much. I just received the first estimate from the Insurance Adjuster, my body shop is now disassembling the car for the adjuster to see any more damages. Myself n the shop feel the estimate is a bit low ball but they of course going to try and give you the least amount makes him look good.

Bummer! Main thing is you're ok and the damage looks mainly cosmetic. Get it fixed and put some miles on it!

I've done the same thing, but not in my Corvette. It is very easy to do.

Hoping you get it fixed quickly. Glad no one was hurt!

As long as everyone is okay, that's all that really matters. Cars can be fixed easily, humans not so much.

It happens. Especially in bad weather. Thankfully no injuries.
Get her fixed before Spring. If you're ever going to do nose, headlight or hood mods now would be the time!

Ok question - why did the hood bend like a piece of metal?

Yeah. I am looking at hoods would like to get a nice Vented maybe CF hood looking for ideas and also was looking at the C6R fenders. What type of aftermarket headlights do we have other than brighter bulbs?

Sad to see, but glad everyone was OK. You must of been almost stopped when you hit the car in front of you, or the air bag would of went off. That would of caused lot's of other damage including a windshield.

You went to check over your shoulder????

This sucks that this happened to your Vette but you might want to invest in a mirror first instead of tires since yours seem to be lacking some. I mean why else would you turn around to look over your shoulder?

I had a similar accident about 10 years ago but it was because I was looking at the radio in a misty rain and the guy in front made an emergency stop in the passing lane. I can't remember the last time I looked over my shoulder while driving. Not even while backing up. You should have 3 mirrors that, if properly adjusted, will cover everything at least one lane wide behind the doors.

So, get it fixed, adjust the mirrors, and count your blessings that it wasn't any worse.

I ALWAYS do a head check before changing lanes. I was taught to do so and it has saved me many times when vehicles were riding in the blind spots.

To the OP, glad you are OK. That's all that's important. You will get your Vette fixed and be back on the road in no time.

That sucks. Thanks for posting so others can learn from your experience. We wish we were all perfect drivers. Good luck on the repairs.

pokerpro may want to do the blind spot test. I always peek over my shoulder after seeing a demonstration on how the mind fills in the blind spot.

That's terrible but thankfully no one was hurt. For the record I always take a look back over my shoulder. You can't make a safe lane change without it!
I've only been in one Vette mishap and that was when a pickup backed into me while stopped for a red light. He did not look behind him....
