Default C6 Rear Tire Size

i read the 3 options for replacing run flat original tires. but now i want a real world answer about the size that is useable. i found a set of rear tires size 285/45-r19 rft for $199 ea. the car is a 2005 and the original size is 285/35-r19 rft. the car has been driven under 2000 miles in the 3 years that i have owned it and the tires have never been spun. so i am a soft driver. under these driving conditions, will the 285/45-r19 rft fit? at half the cost?

IMHO Don't do it.

Go to the top of this page and click on the "tools" in the 1/2" black reverse band. Plug in stock size and your suggested size , look at the difference.

The computers in the car depend on stock tire diameters front AND rear. You have to keep the same diamter and the same smaller front larger rear.

If you aren't looking for top performance there are tires in stock sizes that are reasonably priced, just stay away from "ultimate performance", "summer only", "drag radials", etc. I'm sure you can find an all season run flat in stock sizes for a reasonable price.

Tires age is uber important. Old (unused) tires are time bombs. 2005's are not worth a penny. We have newer hanging off our marina - don't walk, run. They are utter crap at that age.

Remember that runflats have very stiff sidewalls. Most machines are "non contact" with the rims for the places that change them.

Just don't know what kind of tire machine you have, would hate for you to break it or damage a rim....
