Fellow forum member Jimbeaux reported the problem way back in September 2010 with no response on how to fix it. Sounds like the Cobalt airbag issue all over again. Oy.

Default GM AnGM Announces Recall to nounces Recall to Fix C6 Headlights

I don't know if this effects you or not, it looks real enough, so I guess we wait for the recall, or check your dealer.

Still no recall for the air bag problems on the C6. Yep, Gooberment Motors same as usual.

Maybe they did not get the memo that the Obomination drives a C6

I had the headlight issue with my 2007 vert. I just called my dealer. They said they have not yet heard of the recall but when they get the info in their system, I can put in for a reimbursement of the costs I incurred a few months back when it happened.

I'm also having a brake light issue, but it doesn't seem that the vettes are included in todays announcement regarding the brake lights.

It's not part of the recall but if you have an issue they will fix it for you

My guess is that GM became aware of the problem and made a design change starting with the 2008's. Most likely there is a high probability of the problem occurring in the 2005 through 2007's so they are recalling all of them for the free fix. I suspect that there is still a minor probability of the problem occurring in the 2008 through 2013's, but not enough to issue a recall all those model years, thus they will handle the repair on a case by case basis for free(until 13 people die from having their headlights go out and end up crashing).

Doesn't sound as if their redesign(if that's what they did) completely fixed the problem.

That would seem to be a reasonable explanation for handling the 'fix' under two different categories. There are likely separate internal corporate expense areas for these as well so the first one is under 'early engineered' and the other listed as 'design changed' or something to that effect. Hopefully a simple underhood repair is all that's needed. I'm still waiting for something to trigger a recall on my C7; nothing I'm currently aware of, but I really doubt it will make it through the first year without some type of glitch affecting most of the production.
